I was recently recommended this video where at about 4:40 they seem to concretely agree that only a full time influencer can train for a 5 hour marathon. Baffling.

That's not really what they are saying. If someone's marathon pace is 7:00/km then to actually run decent mileage it's going to take much more time out of your schedule than someone whose marathon pace is 5:00/km.
(Obviously the people whose marathon pace is 7:00/km+ should be focusing more on shorter distances but that wouldn't be social media cool)
Speaking of slow runners, I didn't have this one on my bingo card: Robbe leading the BITR crew with a 20:52 5k in Jacksonville which for a 40-something who runs 20 miles a week is great. Apparently all the extra cross training, ie shoveling the snow in the neighborhood for $400 (perhaps more profitable than his full time gig at BITR) seems to have paid off. Meg ran 22:50, and Thomas ran 31:04!
I wonder how much the Jacksonville marathon pays them to make an appearance.
RTJ's 1st third of the year "Marathon Season" is out
8 Feb - Saitama Marathon
1 Mar - Tokyo Marathon
15 Mar - Niigata Half Marathon
22 Mar - Toyohashi Half Marathon
5 Apr - Yaizu Minato Half Marathon
26 Apr - London Marathon
To be seen if he makes it through this block in one piece, but if he does not get any setbacks from any big blowups (relatively big if, based on Tokyo'25 and Valencia'25), you would think at least a few of these should be a good outcome
Jake's been running some stupid fast reps in workouts lately. Some highlights from this week alone:
-5k hard/10k steady/5k hard at 3:00,3:26,3:00 (during a 50k triple day) -4x2000 at 5:50 -5k at 14:52 30k into a 40k steady run (3:43 average).
As for the racing schedule, that's on par with what he's done for years now.

I think he will run 2:12 this year. Just has to put it all together and feel strong on race day.

“If I had my 9-5 now I wouldn’t have considered running a marathon”
Culling “it’s literally impossible”
Do you think the majority of people running 4-6 hour marathons are professional running influencers or do they have normal jobs?

Megan spoon-feeding David mac n’ cheese while he indoor cycles with a ridiculous heat suit on. This is such bizarre behavior that I don’t even know what to say.
I showed it to my wife—who has no context or background on the Roches—and she physically cringed and couldn’t watch more than 15 seconds.

Which I think just goes to show just what good shape Ben Fenton is in at the minute. Last year he was a little way off Jake, Ryan & Cole but looking at his Strava he has shared that his kaizen is predicting him a 2:15:xx at Rotterdam which would take him ahead of Cole, level with Ryan and only slightly behind Jake in PB times.
Would jump him ahead of Hugo, Nick B & Matt Fox too.
So 2026 has been the year of the Fenton so far that’s for sure. Can he also knock Jake off marathon 2nd spot. And in time hunt down Scullion?
He’s certainly running to inspire at the minute and aspiring to run a shed load.
so to summarise - go Fenton go . He has any eye on a 2:15 Mara this spring
I can’t tell when it started, or whether the mispelling of “Fenton” on this thread is a long running in joke. But there is something fitting about it. Hope people start shouting Fenton at him to cheer him on. Wasn’t it the dog vid thing back in the day? Late to the joke, sorry. Maybe it’s an approved nickname by Ben himself.

And what is a 2:15 marathon? Same as shooting 85 around a golf course? Would anyone spend 16/20 hours a week training for that and think it's good?
I missed the meeting when everyone decided that mediocre marathon times ran by professional runners were worth celebrating.
Imagine running 11 hours a week, cycling another 4 or 5 and making running your entire life and personality to then finish 300th in a race

In what universe is shooting 13 over par equivalent to a 2:15 marathon?
Nedd brockman’s new YouTube series, project elite. He didn’t even specify a goal time. One thing these runfluencers have in common is jogging to fast around centennial park, must be fumes there getting to their head.

Floberg breathing a sigh of relief as Roche steps in to outcringe him… or maybe Floberg taking this as inspiration and we will get another filmed treadmill run with Sabriah spoon feeding him bpn supplements

The clip is at 12:36, I had to re-watch it to make sure I was processing it correctly. Up that point the vid wasn't horrible, he was talking how "Megan is going to be talking some trash etc etc." whatever...but then she fed him like a kiddo. LOL

and then he proceeds to throw the macaroni all over the ground. WTF
