This is the weirdest part about any influencer. I think most of their followers are either numb to it or oblivious to the fact that every moment you see is curated this way. The idea of these grown adults walking into a room, setting up their camera, leaving the room, only to walk back in... that is insane behavior! I'm thankful that following this thread means I don't have to watch these guys and can follow along from the Sparknotes you all provide but it's concerning how normalized all this behavior is and how many people watch and think "wow, what a great and honest window into this person's real life!"
this 100%. when you take a step back and actually think about what the influencer has to do (setup a camera, script/plan/act, edit) just to capture their 'normal' life or a 'moment', you realize its batsh1t insane and weird. yes i get that has to be done in order to film a reel/video/movie...but its still weird and the complete opposite of natural.
floberg's kids are absolutely growing up with what will become a very peculiar mindset for each of them, and thats honestly a shame imo. wonder if he even realizes what hes doing, but he probably either doesnt care or think its artistic and cool so wouldnt bat an eye. his children will surely follow in his footsteps so doesnt really matter.
but yea...a full grown ass man doing all that to make a fake warm lovey dovery im a boss family man reel for instagram...just wild to me. but he's got an audience and his monetary livelihood depends on being this character. so whatever floats his boat and keeps the bill paid i suppose. i dont envy the guy lol. but he has enough robotic fans to stroke his ego that he probably freaking loves everything and isnt even aware of the clown behavior hes exhibiting
Not gonna lie, I'm envious he went from 3:50 in 2017 to 2:32 in 2025. That's an insane progression. Being honest.
In other news, the wealthy liberal cis white women over at r/blogsnark are in a rage over, get this, runfluencers NOT getting political on their running accounts. The worst offenders in their noble worldview are fitbitmakayla and Caitlyn Miller. Why on earth would anyone want to hear some braindead runfluencer go on about the nuances of immigration policy? And who cares what their views are? I really don't get it.
the people posting there are completely and utterly insane but I can't help reading it from time to time
LRC has its issues but that subreddit is even more over the top than our snark thread. They would totally destroy Seth, floberg, Bester, and the magic wizard. I have seen them call out Truett and Cameron, though, as well as some other sPEDcial influencers we've discussed. All running truths shall be laid bare at some point.
Really enjoyed Run The Planets latest video. He’s training in Japan currently on his latest sub 3 marathon goal.
Latest video is him having a crack at a half marathon PB in the Tokyo half marathon. Looked good conditions a pretty flat. Captures a clip of RanToJapn running the other way with the leaders at one point.
RunThePlanet a bit disappointed he couldn’t get a PB on the day finishing in 1:35 but he seems upbeat in his latest marathon attempt at sub 3 in March. I wish him well.
Now: Preparing for 2026 marathons 😃 and... Next: Croft 20 Miler (32k) Mar 2026 Last Race: Tokyo NY Half Mara '26 Abbott Majors: Berlin Mara '25 Welcome to the channel ! my journey to a sub 3 hour marathon, my training, races...
His times are interesting: 19:56 5k, 40:36 10k, 1:29 half, 3:21 full. That 10k and 13.1 look solid, the marathon should be around 3:15-3:17. 5k is decent too, maybe a little soft.
Kofuzi has said in a podcast where he was interviewed that he would not be able to do what he does (travel, be a 46 year old youtuber) IF his wife did not have the job she has. She is the breadwinner and some bigwig somewhere. It's pretty icky that he doesn't make that well-known to people and his audience. There are so many people thinking they can do what he does not knowing that he can only do it because his wife provides the stability. He said that if she didn't, he would NOT be able to do what he does. His Kofuzi Run Club youtube talks twice a week are pretty lame. Playing games like "guess this shoe"...do people not work at 1 p.m. in the daytime or have anything better to do? Being a youtuber at 46 starts to get a little tired.
IT makes sense, she must make $$$$$ if they can have all those kids, homeschool them (he probably does a lot of it). Probably marketing, finance, or STEM, lots of women rocking it in the corporate world nowadays and they outearn men.
that was amazing, the wife looking like the lass from step brothers forced to sing sweet child o' mine, the disintersted kid, the desperate hope they'd do some 'wholesome' clapping moment only to be even less interested as he over-acts the breathing
Are you referring to the treadmill mile vid? I don't see the wife in it, just a few kids.
Now that she's in my recent IG searches, I've been suckered into following along. I'm always amazed how these influencers will spin their unhealthy relationship with exercise/social media to justify it to themselves to make money. Obviously rest and recuperation doesn't equal good content so exercise addiction is really just good business sense.
Based on this article, her issues are more extensive than just exercise/social media:
And while I haven't followed her long or scrolled back through her social media, the picture of her in the article presents a much different body than the one that ran sub 17 with hugo fry.
This lady must be starving herself to get this hurt this many times. And to go out there cranking out 100 minutes at a 190 bpm heart rate, you have to wonder if she doesn't bother investing food afterwards (or during).
Now cranking out rides, hobbling around in a substandard boot, and probably trusting the wrong physio's if the foregoing was approved... this person should not be a role model for women. Or for anyone.
RED-S also know as common sense syndrome. The latest buzzword for idiots that are overtraining/undereating and want to blame it on anything other than their own completely moronic training program and lack of recovery
Anyone watch Connor Rogers? Weird haircuts, trash tattoos, bad quality but decent racing
Yes, it's good content, I'd recommend. I'm local, raced against him alot (two years fought with him, now he beats me, by a bit of a distance, every time.).
He's one of the kindest, supportive runners in the community. One thing I would give him (huge) credit for, is he's not fake, or changes in front of the camera, he is a genuine guy and for his (decent level) humble and asking questions, and wanting to learn.
I think the comments about his looks are little unfair. I think even if we consider his appearance (so I'm being a hypocrite as I really don't think discussing what YTs look like matters, but I'm going to go anyway) I think if you surveyed women, they'd on whole say he's attractive, especially for a runner as he's not same stick thin body shape like alot of us. I also like Tattoos, only one myself, but it's often personal taste about them.
Bad quality? He's very controlled. The main theme on this thread seems to be YTs training over doing it? Now we get one being very convential (he's coached) doing 1000m reps at true threshold pace (way slower than 10k PB), and only running hard 2 times a week and he's getting bashed. Sometimes I think YTbs can't win?
Decent racing. Agreed.
I know I look like I fancy the lad here, but I also know FOD, who's a stellar guy, and gets a bit of praise here. I think Connor training principles and his kindness/humility are similar his.

Floberg's early results arent as "bad" as made out. He ran the 1st half of Chicago 2017 in 1:35. Basically untrained. He is coming from some decent talent to begin with. With proper training and commitment he was probably in sub 3 shape 8 years ago.
He didnt "love running", create "core memories" or get consistent until AFTER he broke sub 3, on about 40 miles a week, in 2022. He then kicked on, got "serious" made beginner gains and has plateaued again because he doesnt understand his starting point was probably in a much, much better place than he thought and he ran some quick times off low, low mileage

I gotta say I do enjoy watching his videos, maybe akin to watching a trainwreck idk. That said I gotta ask what in the world is up with the insane breathing / wheezing / heaving he does on the hard "anaerobic" efforts?
Seriously he starts his latest video off with a highlight of his mile TT on the treadmill where he is sounds like your favorite adult film starlett. I have noticed this in his other videos as well whether its him doing an all out last rep of a workout when its not necessary or kicking to finish a race, he makes it sound like he's fighting off a bear. This has to be performative right? I have coached various levels and would see this from out of shape kids from time to time or definitely from the JR High / High School kids who wanted attention. Someone should explain to him this is using more effort and taking away from his overall output???

Totally agree,he is a good lad, bumped in to him lots at Borders and will probably see him again this weekend, well for a few seconds then he'll shoot off.

Good luck for this Sunday! Interesting course with the undulation and even a slight bit of technicality, with the downhill bit, v.sketchy with potholes.
Does anyone follow Hugo Hugemarq? He's on Instagram more than Youtube. Another hybrid guy posting his ridiculous training. Some would say ridiculously impressive. I would say ridiculously stupid. For example, he recently did a 60km week with average pace 3:37/km. Plus 15 hours cross training. He weighs 91kg btw. Clearly very fit but also clearly over training.

This is big thing across all running content creators: the "how I went from X to Y time" thumbnail/video. It's always bugged me how disingenuous it is because they always pick a race where they were a complete beginner and blew up just to make it sound like they had this massive journey or have some "master plan" to get others to follow them. As you say, the reality is they were usually just untrained or new to the distance and simply had to figure out the basics of putting the pieces together before they could actually race to their fitness level. Then they either plateau or get worse from injury, despite being more focused and using (supposedly) the best supplements, gear, and ancillary products their sponsors throw at them.
I don't follow Floberg but I see these thumbnails or reels constantly and it bugs me! I remember specifically Spencer Brown (The Athlete Special) made one of how he went from a 24 minute 5k to 14 minute 5k. He literally picked his very first xc race as a freshman as a point of comparison and then talked about the training helping him cut that much time. Going from a 14 year old kid to a 20-something college runner probably also had something to do with it! I guess that would reveal that they really don't have all the answers for training though because it would reveal that most of the improvement just comes from listening to a more knowledgeable coach and developing in the sport.

"This one workout took me from a 4:36 marathon to 2:32"
