But the New York Times' reporting is in direct conflict with the WSJ's story, which was based on an anonymous source who also shared this information with Steven Crowder. That is a red flag. People are clearly in a huge rush to set the narrative before the shooter is caught and before the public sees any hard evidence. Poor journalistic standards being exercised by the WSJ.

And that is such a massively easy false flag thing to do, means nothing.

I feel you, but free speech includes speech you don't agree with, and there is no better example than people celebrating death and destruction without any apparent self-awareness. "Free speech" here means tolerance, not the First Amendment. Tolerance, as my favorite redditor once said, "Is for people you *don't* agree with."

I'm amazed by how fast critical thinking skills go out the window in cases like this.

People are watching a video of a few seconds before the shot it is fired and are deciding that a guy is in on it (a "spotter") because he touched his hat.

Could he be in on it? Maybe. But we would need a lot more evidence than "he touched his hat."

If I watch any ten seconds of a person giving a speech, with several people or a crowd behind them, do we think we would see someone touch their hat? Or scratch an ear? Or salute or wave or clap or shrug or move their weight from their left to the right?

People move around. And in a group, someone is almost always moving.
