We aren't going to get the 1 million plus worse case (well unless it comes back with a vengance) but 100-150k after all the social distance we did is a heck of a lot more than a flu season. Now if SD reduced the deaths from 500k to 150k is something that will be really hard to prove. If Houston, Dallas, Washington, DC or another big city pulled a New York, our death toll would be absurd.

On the other hand, this stuff is lasting years more. We are talking a couple months and then some gradual reopening.

Well, you start off by saying you don’t build immunity, then in the next sentence you admit that no body knows how this virus will behave, ridiculous.

Early indications are that it does not significantly mutate and therefore antibodies are more likely to work over a longer period.

Imagine how bad it would have been if the Omicron strain hadn't become the dominant strain and effectively ended Covid worldwide in a few months. We had vaccines out for well over a year and Covid was still raging worldwide.

We eventually gave them up, but I think it was more about getting tired of them than covid actually being gone
