Maître Jacques was taking all sorts of crap into his system for many years. Do you really believe that he needed that stuff? It's what a lot of people did back then in many walks of life. Do you actually believe that your work would be enhanced if you took thousands of amphetamine and morphine shots and pills?

Isn't it more realistic to say that he became a drug addict and was just naturally very good at what he did?

His world records on the track were no better than what any talented young cyclist can achieve naturally, even if they used the same bike and clothing.

It is an embarrassment that LetsRun has Lance as a quote of the day. Lance (and all dopers) is/are an embarrassment to athletic endurance sports. I was like 8-10 years old when Lance was crushing it in the tour and I had a strong feeling back then that he was a dirty as they come.

As a former pro you'd know that. You'd know that in Italy in the '90s there were guys dropping dead in their sleep.

You'd know that pros all over Europe were riding the rollers in the middle of the night in an effort to keep their super thick blood pumping.

You'd know that the US team at the 1984 Olympics was sketchy AF, having taking blood transfusions (which weren't banned but riders certainly weren't allowed to talk about them; they were banned in 1985) and caffeine suppositories (like, WFT?)

And you'd know that there are still pros on Mallorca who ride all day because they're still afraid that their EPO use might catch up with them.

Lance's doping did not cost anyone a pro ride. Most of the Postal guys hadn't doped *until* they'd made it to Europe.

The everyone was doing it argument is a generalisation, no doubt, but in the case of cycling (and, for all I know, marathon running) it rung true.

Well I don't know if Former Pro is Jake Sitler or not, but Jake Sitler was a runner and letsrun poster and then a Pro cyclist and he posted his power output profile here back in 2014. It was the same power profile that rEPO dopers had back in the day.

Was Jake Sitler doping? No, I doubt it. Does he believe that rEPO gives a massive boost in power output?

How did that work out for him?

For the record I had to look up who Jake Stitler is. So I'm obviously not him, and I wasn't a pro cyclist, but in another endurance sport.

"Everybody" wasn't doing it, because there were thousands of riders who weren't getting contracts or making money in the sport because they refused to dope (even though they were likely just as talented or worked as hard). That's the point. Dopers took money and spots away from those clean riders, most of which were forced out of the sport.

The letsrun news site is updated frequently. Sometimes we get direct videos of athletes after races.

Lance Armstrong probably doesn't troll the letsrun forum continuously, but he looked at some of the news articles which you have to admit are pretty good. The Johnson brothers were getting free publicity.
