Plu a BIG time talent does need EPO to run 3:31. 3:31 was first run in 1980 LONG BEFORE EPO was invented.

I think a bunch of thyroid meds could be useful in helping one be "on" all the time but one doesn't need EPO to run 3:31.

If Salazar tested anabolic steroid doses on his son, I'm sure he has tested EPO doses and every other PED under the sun and knows exactly how much people can take before they get popped. If I were African or anyone in distance running and wanted to dope, I'd go with the guy who knows how to do it.

Or I'd go with Jama Aden because apparently even getting caught red-handed isn't enough to get caught red-handed.

I remember an article where his manager admitted Komen simply did not have the mental capacity to understand pace/splits. The manager would have to tell him faster or slower to provide guidance.

If Komen and Tefera aren't doping, they're probably IQ 70 or below and truly aren't limited by mental barriers. Ignorance is bliss.

There are several posts accusing him of lying about his age. How does that work? Tefera is extremely talented and regardless of how old you think he is now, he would have been capable of being world class at a real age of 19. If he's really 23 where did those 4 years go? Did he train in seclusion and poverty so he could later lie about his age.

I thought Tefera looked like he was clearly struggling to hold form in the last 50 meters... thrashy and tying up a bit. And he did lean at the line. It looked to me like he just ran a perfect race with great pacing from the official pacers and Kejelcha. I think his reaction can be explained by a stoic personality and/or trying to hold his poker face... or just being too tired and confused to process the moment. Michael Norman had a similar non-reaction after breaking the world indoor 400 record.

Makhloufi would have started celebrating on the homestretch, missed the record, and been passed by Kejelcha.

3.31 indoors is nothing like 3.31 outdoors. No indoor times are comparable to outdoor times. So a 19-year-old newbie from E Africa sets a world record. I don't know why anyone accepts any of these performances at face value anymore. I remember the East German doping parade in the 70's and 80's but that pales (no pun intended) beside what the Africans are doing to this sport. I don't believe any of it.

You are literally seeing what you want to see regarding the breathing thing. We don’t have an interview of Tefera to compare against, but in the video of Jakob he eases down to a jog and walks around calmly with his hands aloft in a little celebration. Looks like he’s been for a jog. He’s not exactly flat on his back like Muir is he.

To be fair, there is a huge difference between running a 3:31 and a 3:36! Any runner should feel noticeably more tired running the former compared to the latter.

I do have suspicions about Jacob, based on how fast he is/was running at 17: and we know he is a legit 17 year old, but I'm more inclined to have an open mind regarding him due to the full history of his background and progression since an early age, and the knowledge that there is/has been far more OOC testing in Norway compared to Ethiopia.

Jacob's 3:31 was also run in Monaco, which tends to be 2 seconds faster than other tracks, for whatever reason!?

That was pretty bad. Wasnt even breathing through his mouth. Totally relaxed. Zero stress or strain. Straight into a jog with no hard breathing AT ALL. I mean, at least pretend like it was difficult. Something really needs to be done.

Yes, the same runner should feel more tired running faster. But for two different runners the statement is laughable.

I think you're being a little ignorant & short-sighted. I'm not saying Tefera is doping...I simply don't know. However, on not breathing hard enough skepticism; we've seen time & time again confirmed EPO users run spectacular performances with virtually no fatigue afterwards (e.g., Ramzi, Boulami, Jeptoo, Savinova, etc.). Here's one with Kiprop @ Birmingham 2016. He blows a world-class field apart, including Iguider, who's no slouch, while looking fresh as a daisy afterwards:
