I ran 4:05 for the mile 20 years ago. It was faster than any D3 guy at the time. I was probably a 14 flat 5k guy but didn’t run it so it would have been close.

You were a good 8 seconds slower than Karl Paranya had run 2 years before, so even if you did run that time, I'm not exactly impressed that you were 50 meters behind a JV runner.

Another consideration is that many DIII runners are liberal arts majors, while the vast majority of DI runners are engineering majors. This additional course load means that DI athletes are staying up later and studying harder, making the times all the more impressive.

I was a chemical engineering major when I ran my 4:05, and the night before I stayed up all night trying to understand my diff eq homework. I later dropped out because of too many failing grades, but I tried my hardest.

Do you have any facts to back up your accusations?

I actually believe that DIII is faster than DI. Last time I checked this was the case.

Isn't competing in D3 sort of like going transgender and competing against women? If you need a lower level category, you shouldn't be bragging. D3 guys are shocked to find out that guys who place at nationals wouldn't be top 200 in their event in D1 but they feel good about getting a trophy anyway. That's what mommy taught them. I am guessing they are all democrats.

I'm sure the runners at MIT, UChicago, Washington University, Pomona, Carleton, etc are just coasting through college and not having to stay up late to get homework done. And they are doing this without the extra academic support that the D1 athletes often times enjoy.

We all know that the D1 runners (in the Power 5 conferences, plus NAU, Portland, etc) are overall superior to the D3 runners, but at least use credible arguments. And admit that there are some pretty good runners in D3 who would still be quite good in most of the D1 schools outside of the Power 5, etc- as well as some in those Power 5's.

Anyone got predicted cutoff qualifier times?

The D3 guys at decent schools are normally on a bus on Friday returning Saturday night. Below is Indiana's outdoor schedule. They are a random P5 school. Athletes are on a plane on Wednesday returning at 3AM on Sunday on a weekly basis. They make it to class Monday and Tuesday. Try majoring in electrical engineering at a Power 5 as a distance runner who has XC, indoor and outdoor track.

That's why guys go D3. They are used to asking mommy for things. They are offended when being told anything.

So your argument is that D3 guys should be as fast as D1 guys? Why have different divisions then?

There shouldn't be different divisions. Emphasize club and intramurals for athletes who are not competitive.

We shouldn't let them run at all. I don't think you should be allowed to run if you are slower than 14:00. Too many DIII "athletes" have been clogging up the streets of my hometown, making it a dangerous environment for my children. Who knows how many drugs and violence these people are bringing in with them!

I'm sure that there are good people in DIII, but we should build a Wall to keep them out.

You don't have a clue. There will be many runners in the any P5 conference that will will not come close to running those times and will be running in the conference meets.

I am sure you are superior runner but clearly a total F...ing loser.
