Jon Sinclair won the Peachtree in 1982 in a time of 28:06 on a very hot 80 degree day at the start. The field was a lot deeper as well.

at first I thought they were Tracers, because Aliphine is clearly wearing Tracers and I thought this was just the other women's colorway
but then I finally found a larger photo and saw the yellow bottom, which is an RMAT layer that the Tracer does not have
was hoping maybe Claytons or the new Mach maybe, but the stack height doesn't line up, it's too shallow
in fact it looks exactly like a women's version of the men's carbon rocket that they demonstrated at a trade show
it also has a similar diagonal split that you see in all carbon spring plate shoes, the vaporfly and the new brooks

that is a long argument on letsrun
but I will point out this critical fact
if the new Rule 143 has passed at IAAF and USATF (which is has in June) this shoe is NOT available to the public, at all, I've checked all of hoka's website and runningwarehouse, nada
so she ran in a prototype or pre-production shoe - this is specific grounds for disqualification

Well, at Camp Lejeune in 1958, according to the officers in charge, I did win a battalion 3 mile run in 17:29 with a pack (I don't recall 80 pounds and I don't remember what kind of footwear). I have to admit I never did anything as good in the following years (Is a 61 minute 10 mile comparable even without a pack?). I have always wondered whether the Lejeune distance and time were correct. At 78, with no pack, I now run around 24 minutes for 5K, though in today's 90 degree heat I did slow to a 27:55 Independence day win over ten other younger fogies.
I totally 100% believe you because all the other times match up - Hey you are doing fantastic - go online and see how many people you beat younger than you and you'll be amazed - you obviously were the fittest soldier in your battalion - so congrats on that - thank you for serving also - I was Air Force and our fitness requirements were a joke - I actually lost fitness when my basics were over - at Rantoul Illinois I had to request to train with the Marines so I could regain my fitness - looked very funny for a lone Air Force guy to be PTing with United States Marines!
And unlike the pussies of today...Sinclair and all of those others raced well and raced often.
My bad - you already done that - OK you're next task should you accept it, is race a 5K with at least 1000 then check to see how many people younger than you that you beat - if you do a 24:00 I think it could be as high as 500 - so I'm pulling for you!

Why is it that I get taken to this letsrun message board thread when I click the link in their peachtree article for "top elite results?" I just want to know the race results not see the bs comments from the letsrun peanut gallery or some embedded tweets. I still don't know if lagat actually won the race or just "won" the us champs. It's freaking amateur.

Semper Fi. I was merely a reserve so you probably served longer than me. But the Marines got me into shape and my six years of Reserve summer camps kept me shooting straight.

Congrats to Bernard - but 2 people that don't get a whole lot of attention but deserve a huge tip of the cap are Kevin Castille and Ellie Abrahamson - Kevin Castille was right there with Ward the olympian - FANTASTIC race Kevin! And Ellie shows lots of promise - keep your eye on Ellie, I think there's a potential champion here - Good race Ellie!
