You do realise that people keel over and die from it in races practically every year in the UK in temperatures no where near what it was like this morning... And your comment here re making relational decisions in that condition is uttetly moranic because my point was he shouldn't even have been getting in that condition - he was so far clear because he pushed beyond what his body could handle. He banged out two mins on the Aussie in the 2nd half of a marathon in blazing Aussie conditions! That - like you - was f-cking moranic and the reason he isn't sitting on a plane back home right now with a medal around his neck.
Does anyone know if Callum is single? He's good looking, talented, puts his all into his performances and again is hot. Now that's a real man. Admire him so much. Compared to those pathetic self proclaimed angsty keyboard warriors. He's probably not single though I would guess? Anyway, I'll probably never meet him. Hope he recovers well and looking forward to seeing him racing again in time.

You cannot really compare 1954 with 2018. In 1954 Peters has said that he had no idea he was, literally, miles ahead of the field (in those days athletes were not given as much information during races). He says in his autobiography that if he had been told of the extent of his lead he would have stopped, taken a drink and jogged the last few miles, saving himself for the upcoming European Championships. Also, were drinks stations as frequent in 1954 as today? Peters apparently had a policy of drinking very little or nothing at all during marathons in any case.
