I don’t understand Net Neutrality. Everything I DuckDuckGo is horribly biased. WTH is it?

This legislation does nothing to fix the monopoly issue.... NOTHING

Oh cute, the 2015 legislature had some fine print about forcing ISP to be more transparent about their fees. But in the real world, pricing/contracts/rate changes for ISPs is just as obtuse as ever. In other words, their cute little fine print was WORTHLESS.

It's like electricity. Does anyone like brownouts? Me, neither. ISPs are pissed that YOU'RE streaming more and more over their networks, and you scream at them when it buffers. And they watch us all walk around staring at our phones. They're danged if they do, and danged if they don't. The bottom falls out of their business in about three years, tops. Pai was at Verizon previously, he's meeting regularly with Verizon now, and Verizon has fought this forever. The ISPs want every last cent until they go away, plain and simple.

Did you see the solid state laptop/tablet things with SIM card slots that came out this week? Do the math.

Exactly, I think we are in agreement.

The free market/new technology will make this non-problem even less of a "problem".

People need to lighten up 'net neutrality' is not a big deal in the grand scope of things.

As a Republican that supports Net Neutrality, I'll say that the Republicans stance on this is retarded. It's a knee jerk "Business Good, Obama Bad" thing. I disagree with 99% of Obama's policies, Net Neutrality is one he got right.

That being said, the political grandstanding in the article above is bullsh*t. The Net Neutrality mandate under Obama didn't apply to wireless carriers, and allowed throttling for reasonable network management. What the wireless companies are doing is network management, it has nothing to do with Net Neutrality.

Turning the issue into a political football isn't going change anyone's mind on the other side.

As a side note, I've been reading ARS Technica for 10+ years, it's really turned into an ultra left-wing sh*thole in the last 12 months.

Yeah, making this political is a win for the monopolies trying to screw customers. The only reason one of the parties has taken a side is the money flowing in to their pockets.

Anyone willing to understand the issue knows net neutrality would protect your freedom and keep monopolies from gouging customers. All customers regardless of party are on the losing end without it.

You can pretty much guarantee that if the Dimocrats are pushing this, that the reasoning behind it is sinister.

Whether it’s suppressing free speech or burdening business with new regulations or what I’m not sure ... but you can bet if the Democraps are pushing it, it’ll end up being bad.

Not to confuse you too much, but did you know that this evil thing "Obama did" is based on a telecommunications act from the 1930s? Did you ever notice that landline phones just worked, there weren't ads or buffering or anything? You could just make or receive a call? That's all Net Neutrality was. But now, you'll pay Comcast for a "pipe," then pay Comcast for content, then pay Comcast for not slowing down what you already paid for. And you'll continue getting your information from FoxNews or wherever.
