Burnt Hills definitely should've been there. It's hysterical to me how surprised the announcers seem about FM placing so high. NY boys teams have had a great season, and FM had a very good performance at regionals that was telling to how they would race today.
Rich Gonzalez was probably shitting himself when he saw two NY teams in top 10 through the 2 mile, and his golden team GO getting rocked.
What it shows is that IL should have its own region. 3 individuals from IL in the top 18 and a 4th place team. The second team at NXR-MW was Carmel, IN which finished in 10th at NXN. Lyons from IL finished third at NSR-MW, was only 3 points behind Carmel.
Can't wait for Doug Soles to come on LetsRun and make up some excuses for why Greak Oak got trashed!

Illinois, New York, and Cali are always strong. Oh wait. They’re population centers too. Makes sense. And I’m an Illinois boy. York excluded, the biggest advantage we have is population and some serious coaches.
Wow. Manlius’s only senior was their 5th man. They have 3 sophomores in the top 5, and their #6 was a freshman. They could be a threat in years to come.
LV has a good group coming back next year also. 4 guys that raced today, and 2 other great runners (a guy who broke 16 and another much improved guy that can keep up with some of LV’s top 7) that didn’t race today.
I think maybe he was concentrating on his running career. Lets see, two time olympic medalist and married with three nice kids. Sounds like a total stud to me! Who cares, even more studly that he is trying to finish!

If you take out his and also their other transfer/#5 man, they would have lost to Manlius, who also had a fantastic race, by 7 points (total of 166 points), and any given day those #6 and #7 men could run better and even win it with taking out 2 out of their top 5. Of course, all this is different if GO has a good day. Just a testament to the coaching and culture at the program in Loudoun Valley. Maybe next time do some research before you try to throw shade and look like an idiot

Not disagreeing that IL is always strong and population is a factor. You just helped make my case. NY and CA already have their own NXN. WHy not IL?
Also agree that coaching in IL is great - and not just the familiar names.

Random thought: It's pretty impressive (and depressing) that the coverage/commentary for this high school cross country race is way better than major US marathons.

burnt hills is very young as well, hopefully having bad race last week to miss qualifying will make them hungrier in 2018
I knew the transfer thing would come up again, but just to make the point, yank both transfers even Affolder , who did not have a great day at all, out of the scoring, they still win.
also the only reason affolder transferred is because his dad is in the military and had to move for his job, was not done purely for running purposes (although once he knew they were moving to the DMV, he chose a school based on running pedigree for his kids).
