Running was the easy part. It was just 72 miles per day. Almost everybody can do that.

If a dedicated team is not helping setup and manage the run you will fail. There is no such thing a "solo" cross country run. You would be running. Carrying everything in a pack with clothes and food. Setting up a sleeping place. And buying and cooking your own food.

Add, and washing you own clothes. Of course, there are some guys who likely go 40 plus days without washing clothes or taking a bath. You'd be able to smell them from miles away as they run along.
