The Bills had some great comebacks. Kelly and Reich were both outstanding clutch quarterbacks. They never gave up, and pulled off some fantastic comebacks. Reich pulled off the greatest comebacks in both NFL and NCAA history.

I have to agree with this. For most of the athletes mentioned on here, people give one or two examples of them being clutch. Jordan delivered so many clutch performances, even his most avid fans couldn't remember half of them. No athelete in any sport has consistantly delivered under pressue in the biggest games, with the highest expectations, against the toughest odds like he has. Just in his last two NBA Finals series, he hit the winning shot in three games and dished off the winning assist in another.

Jordan is the most clutch athlete of the espn era...before anyone starts calling Elway clutch remember the 3 super bowls in 4 years that he failed to show up for and subsequently caused his team to lose. Montana was far more clutch than Elway.

You can't be serious. He single handedly put those 3 teams in the Super Bowl when they had no business even being in the playoffs. The fact that he could take them to the final game at all is what made him amazing. The losses weren't a matter of him not showing up - just failing to deliver one last miracle.

But I would call Montana the most clutch QB ever.

Ali talked more trash and than the entire NBA combined, and he backed it up again, and again, and again, and again. The only reason he ever lost was because:

A) he was kept from boxing during the prime of his career, and lost just enough of an edge to lose to close fights to Frazier and Norton (who he later avenged with two wins against each), and

B) Like nearly all boxers, he held on just a little too long.

But against Liston, Frazier, and Foreman, he was clutcher than any man ever.

Nevertheless, Jordan has no peer. Remember, he retooled his game (his patented fade away jumper became his bread and butter shot) when his athletic skills were declining, and yet he still DOMINATED games, especially fourth quarters, like no other.

Team sports are bigger pressure cookers than are individual ones because if you blow it, you blow it for EVERYONE. While Geb, Ali, Woods, et al are all studs, it's still not the same type pressure day in and day out. By his sheer volume of pressure filled, delivering moments, Jordan is "Mr Clutch" by a readjusted TEN miles.

How could it be anybody other than Webb?

He broke the high school mile record and he always wins the 5000 at the Penn Relays.

The only knock on his record is not beating Ritz at the Nike.

Another name should be thrown into the discussion though:

Pete Sampras (as long as he wasn't playing in France). The guy pulled off some amazing wins and you just couldn't help knowing what was coming.

1)Golf is not a sport.

2)As good as Jordan was he is overrrated by so many people because of how well marketed he was.

3)As for track I say Al Oerter or Edwin Moses. Billy Mills for the longest odds clutch guy, Ozzie Smith's homerun in the playoffs which would be 2nd.
