Investigating Andy Sloan of Walking With the Wounded at London Marathon 2017

Oh, gee, you will have to show me all these mythical social media postings where Andy declared to the world he was running the London Marathon because I assure you that his personal Twitter and WWTW Facebook page have zero mention of this like I posted at the start of this thread.

Yep, any one I know that ever run a marathon shouted it out on social media, with photos of bib numbers, photo's at expo, and photo's after the event. Andy has kept quiet on all social media. Even Walking With The Wounded have not given him a mention on there own social media. My guess is he had some one else's Ballot/good for age place. Rules are there for a reason and you cannot transfer a ballot or good for age place. If it was legit there would have been more photo's on his social media. Sorry but he is a cheat and so is the guy who's bib it was. Great charity but rules are rules.

Wanted to keep it quiet, and yet publicly advertised that he was running via JustGiving?

Maybe his work contract prevents him from using social media to advertise other charities? Unlikely but not impossible.

Agreed, he could have taken a ballot/GFA place and then joined up with the charity and raised some money. This would be unusual. Why not get his own charity spot? There are usually some available very late.

Probably because a real charity bib place requires him to raise a lot more money than he can achieve given that Andy only started his Just Giving page on April 9th, so only a couple of weeks before the run.

All his sponsors pledged in the last 10 days - this suggests he came to this very late.

For me, the most likely explanation is of him being a late replacement for another charity runner.

Well, that puts to bed the notion of him denying another runner a place. VMLM could not have reallocated Stuart's place in that time.

How come you always side with the cheaters (like with Ben Rogers)?

If you believe Andy was receiving a charity bib from Stuart, don't you think Stuart would have some kind of Just Giving or Virgin Money page for the Marathon? And yet there is none of you search the sites. All evidence point to this being a ballot or qualification bib.

That's because you have no followers. Andy is a public figure with lots of followers on his Twitter and WWTW Facebook. And he posts frequently about people running marathons.

Bizarre thread, but extremely interesting to read and see how people on here interact with each other and how strongly they feel on the subject.

Can I make an impartial statement and say that so far, the only thing we seem to have assertained is that nobody is 100% sure what happened.

It could have been an admin f8ck up, or he might have broken the rules, he might have knowingly done so, etc etc.

It's crazy to see people so wanting him to be guilty of wrongdoing and on the other hand wanting him not to be just so Tinfoil Hat dude would be wrong.

I'd love to get the facts here, but as it is this conversation is excellent, please continue!

My 2 cents - Tinfoil hat seems to be onto something, if a little over enthusiastic. Can someone please reah out to Andy?

Err, you do realise you're on an anonymous message board so you wouldn't have a clue who you're conversing with, let alone how many times a day they have "committed fraud".

By the way, whistle blowers and investigators are rarely asked, especially by the perpetrators.

Only "almost never "shout" about it on social media", I've run a lot more than seven and never, and will never, shout about it on social media.

So what does all this tell you so far, that everyone is different and everyone has different standards, moral compasses, whatever you want to call it. Suggest you accept it and get over it, after giving your opinion.

This whole thread, and the David Reading thread, and the Mike Rossi thread, and the Robert Young thread yada yada is why I prefer track & field over 'thonning.

Thank god charities are non-existent in T&F. Anyone else tired of that charity crap?

Ok, here is some more bombshell evidence of foul play here with Andy Sloan. In the race photos for Andy he is wearing some weird fluoro yellow t-shirt with a black Bliss logo on it that he appears to have made himself with. That is not the real Bliss t-shirt! Look at the race photos of all the other Bliss runners and you will see them wearing light blue and white Bliss tops that are much more professionally done.

Andy is the odd one out and just seem to have inserted himself as a Bliss runner without actually being sanctioned by Bliss. This lends support that Andy is using Stuart's ballot / qualification bib. Who wants to have the pleasure of contacting Andy Sloan and Ed Parker?
