Again, clueless you are.
It's nice for Alberto (Oregon's real coach) to let the other PAC 10 coaches know what his prodigy will run at the PAC 10 Champs. It sure make's it a lot easier to figure out where to gain a few points, especially a month+ out. It's getting to be fun to watch him make a complete ass out of himself and to blatantly show everyone that Tyson really is merely a puppet (or of you prefer Ruppet) on a short string. That’s some great coaching right there. Fine, fine work by Alberto, Tyson and Moos.

There are those that applaud AlSal and Galen for calling their own game and not being pushed around by the status quo (which has had soooo much International success over the last -ever since Virgin- 25 years). Kick some ass you guys!! Ingnore the wannabees and neverweres.
If the status quo is so bad, then stay out of the college scene, rather than trying to have it both ways. I would surmise that both of the "wannabees (sic) and neverweres" had no problem with Rupp deciding to stay with his coach and train independently while attending school elsewhere. The idea of being on a team, however, is to have shared experiences with teammates, not to bring in your own guns.
If Oregon and Tyson or whomever is hired are fine with it, then so be it, but as a fan of collegiate track and field, I don't have to like it. Just because a guy is good doesn't mean I'm going to cheer for him, American or not.
Bill Bowerman is probably turning in his grave.
Why is Galen Rupp at Oregon for this season?
If I were giving him advice, I would say something like this:
"You want to go to Oregon? Fine, but wait until the fall, because right now you will be walking into a veritable shitstorm of criticism and uncertainty about the program. The head coach was let go, in some part because you chose not to enroll directly out of HS. Your HS coach is being associated with removing the head coach. You have been training under the auspices of the Nike Oregon Project, directly or indirectly. The Chairman and largest stockholder of Nike definitely had a say in removing the coach.
Everything you do this spring will be under the microscope. You should wait until fall when emotions have cooled, a head coach has been hired and you can have the experience of a full year of school while representing your universtiy. Arriving at the very last moment and bringing your own coach makes you look like a hired gun. Continue with what you have been doing, since it has been extremely successful so far."
However, I believe that the people advising Rupp have looked at the situation at Oregon and thought that the Ducks would have a better shot at a national title if he enrolled NOW.
Oh the irony if Rupp has enrolled at the last minute to help the team Martin Smith built try to win a title, while Martin Smith is told to leave the program.

Not a chance that this will come to fruition. Martin built a great team, but not that great, and Rupp helps, but not that much. If you want a story of revival, UKEP is the team that looks to be silently strong, and ignored by Trackwire. They will have one in the 200m, 800m, 1500m, steeple, 5000m and 10000m, in addition to a long jumper, and a high jumper. UKEP, er UTEP will be in the top 10 maybe 5 if they fire on all eight cylinders.
Rupp will be lucky to be a factor at the NCAA Meet. This will take it's toll on him and he will not score. He is a talent, YES! But, he runs fast in fast races. He is unproven in tactical races like the NCAA 5K and 10K tend to be.
He is INELIGIBLE___I know aside from the logic of staying away for now!!!!!!!
Nike will slide him or his family money under the table (off the books) so he can pay back the expenses the Oregon compliance people deem appropriate. I hate to say it, but this goes way up the food chain and he will be eligible. Nike will see to it.
OOOOOH Conspriracy!
His parents must be a rotten as Salazar and Knight.
bump
Does Galen really not see anything wrong with what he and Salazar are doing? Does it not matter to him that he is getting special treatment? What has this boy been taught?
I say this in response to the recent article where he so casually discusses his arrangement with Salazar and UO. His attitude and disregard for others makes me think he doesn't care how this looks or affects others or he is just blind to it all?
Is this group really this self-serving?
YES!

RIGHT ON!!!!!!
They are not interested in building a team, only forwarding their self serving agenda.
