IS THIS BOGUS? Dude says he's run 4:02, 13:43, 28:10.

This shit is Hollywood!!!

I see it going something like this.......

Our hero is with his mate doing one of these time-trials 10k on a high school track, beer drinking mate calls the splits. They are watched by a mysterious stranger who is also taking splits and looks impressed. Turns out he is disgraced English Coach who is now in the US (maybe laying low ). Stranger approaches our hero recognizing him and saying "didnt you used to be xxxxx." Disgraced Coach convinces hero to have a crack at the upcoming Olympic Trials as he was under the QT in the time-trial and just needs to reproduce it in a qualifying race. Few training montages and hero coming out with PRE like quotes of how he can take more pain than any man..blah blah. He then qualifies for the OT at some back water meet. Meanwhile the net is closing on the English Coach as his past is catching up on him. Need some love interest now to fill it out at this point. At the Trials our hero is clear in 3rd at the bell after pushing the pace hard the whole way with little chance of being caught, the Coach is now certain of being arrested and has done even more (why he was at the high school at the beginning). Thinking his charge will qualify for the Olympics he sticks a gun in his mouth and pulls the trigger. However on the last lap a naturalized Kenyan via College runs down our hero for the 3rd spot and catches him (think Ian Stewart on PRE in Munich) on the line. Kenyan goes to the Games and then gets busted as part of a Kenyan EPO ring. Our hero heads back to the high school track where his mate is waiting for him...film ends with...." ever thought out the Beer mile???"

Alright, guys. The blood has been drawn and the deed has been done. Let this kid get on with his life and leave him alone. This is not some con like RY was pulling off or some huge power trip like Rossi. At the best it's a need to impress people in his life or some friends from strava. No harm has been done to anybody and he hasn't taken anybody's money. It is clear he has withdrawn from social media and wants no part of the LRC troll hordes and I, for one, don't think he deserves it. Time to lay TF off.

Can confirm, I also ran for Radford. Met the guy a few times seemed really nice I never had an issue with him. Upperclassmen told me that he walked on to the team and then quit shortly after and went around telling people he had run 29:XX for 10k and was training for the olympic trials. I maybe only saw him running a few times during my time there so unless he was logging mileage on a treadmill i doubt he was putting in the work needed to run those times. Radford is a small town there's not too many places you can run.

Why do you doubt that? This makes no sense. You are being overly negative. Perhaps he just ran at a different time of the day than you. If you were on the team, then you were only running at the same morning time and afternoon time. There's plenty of time in the day for you not have seen him running especially if you were stuck running at the same time everyday.

I did not read pages 4 and 5 of this thread. Is there actually proof that he didn't run these times? Some of you are acting like if you don't see something, then it could not have happened.

Again, very few runners can run those times. This guy has a track record of running numerous 17 to 18 minute 5ks. This guy ran a best of 2:07 for the 800. I'd wager it is impossible that he could improve from 2:07 at age 18 to running 28 for 10k a few years later.

I like this but it would be better if our hero makes it to the Olympics and then misses the final because he gets stuck in a gender neutral port-o-let.
