Jenkins has been very suspect (to me) for some time. One just has to look back at his high school pb's, what he ran/how he progressed to 13:18 his Soph year , how he slowed down while at U of O, and how he ran (progressed) during the summer in Europe. I think his mile PB was 3:57 coming into this race. 3:49, give me a break and follow his progression and when his progression has taken place.

Really? I beat Jenkins in high school. Crushed him actually. Did it matter? Hell no. I talked to Jenkins dad at a track meet, and raced against him and talked with his teammates. From what I gather: He ran 25 mpw for most of high school, with 30 mpw pushing it. That's 4. miles a day roughly, and off that, he ran almost 15 flat, and 4:14'ish. All this, and he didn't train for XC until his junior year really. I mean. From what I heard by his teammates, he did run in the summer, and then did 25 mpw in the fall, and then stopped running again. He's as talented as German Fernandez, but just made the jump in college beacuse he didn't train. he would have run 8:30/3:58 in high school if he had a coach that pushed him from freshman year to senior. Then when he got to college, he doubled if not tripled his mileage from 25 to 75'ish (at least 60), and went from 15-14 - again. 15:16 or w/e, was done after training for 1-2 years, but skipping most of summer, and running 25 mpw. Essentially that 15:15 5km he ran in high school was off of nothing. Only natural he would jump immediately to 13:55 when he doubled his mileage, and then his talent started to materialize, and he dropped down to 13:16 in the perfect race at Arcadia or w/e. He's essentially just what German F would have been if he never got injured. One of the most talented runners in the US imo. 4:15/15:15 off 4 miles of running a day is insane. he basically had no base, and just worked sharpened his anaerobic fitness and got us to running fast. He's only 24 as well, so by 28, i expect him to be a 12:54/3:49 guy.

Blankenship, Murphy, Centro and Alexander went out really hard thru the 800. At that point Centro started pushing the pace and about 10 yards back, Alexander followed. In the third quarter they both opened up on Ben and Murphy with Alexander eating into Centro's lead step by step. Meanwhile Jenkins had been leading the chase pack and had begun a long extended kick and had caught Ben and Murphy and was gaining on Colby and Centro.

Colby passed Centro with maybe 200 to go. It actually looked like Alexander was going to take it when here comes Jekins flying along the curb. Maybe IDK, 20 meters before the finish Centro re-passes Colby and looks over his left shoulder to make sure Colby isn't coming back on him and just as he glances left, Jenkins goes by on his right and they hit the finish line. Jenkins pulls a John Landy (over Bannister).

And he's only 21 years old! More to come. But good for Jenkins!

Track when it has big-name sprinters does well, is my guess. Also marathons, I suppose. A road mile? Yeah, it's in NY, but still ... If it once was on TV and now it isn't, I would presume it was because it didn't do well in the past. You think NYRR wouldn't televise it if wouldn't get ratings?

People LOVE monster trucks. The amount of people I know who watch that far outnumbers those I know who follow T&F. Of course may that says more about me than anyone or anything else ...

Anyway, with streaming / on-demand, does it even matter if it's on TV? Then we'd all be complaining about the commentary on broadcast as well.

God why are pros so stupid? We see something like this literally every other week. Don't ease up, don't look around, don't celebrate, just run as hard as you can all the the way through the line. Then do whatever the hell nonsense you want.

A. It was his specialty distance

B. He didn't beat some big names with a fast time (sub 3:50, really?)

C. He wasn't part of NOP

You would have to prove that. Guyanese are 40% East Indian, 30% African, and 17% Native Amerindian. Like Centro Sr, Centro mom is a mix of several ethnic groups. She looks somewhere in-between the primary Guyanese races.
