Without doping, no sprinter would be running sub 10, no 1500's under 3:35, no marathons under 2:10.
The real doping happened in the 50's and 60's when they weren't testing in competition, and it took a long time for steroids to finally exceed the standard set during that era. Until track comes clean with itself and the world about the amphetamines and wipes those records off the books, all records will require dope.
There was doping before then too, of course. Cocaine, opiates. They just didn't have the bennies yet.
You think nick willis is on steroids and epo? He ran sub 3:30 1500m. He doesn't seem like the type. Its hard to imagine ryan hall doping either. I am curious what the natural limit is.

If we are going to hate Gatlin, can we be even-handed and show some hate to the other PED-taking 100m runners also?
Gatlin at least talks. I find it equally if not more distasteful that his fellow 100m runners, and particularly those with 'form', will never say anything against drug-taking in sports or to promote clean running.
Omerta.
Very informative, thanks!Gatlin needs to come clean, or retire.

Cram is spewing PC BS out of his pie hole. Bolt is one of the most arrogant sprinters ever.

Nice to see a top national sprinter having spoken out against doping in his discipline.
Lewis-Francis was one of those athletes to make an impression early in his career, but then fail to extend that promise into competitive times on the world stage.
It must have been incredibly frustrating for him to see all these freakish times being run by people he suspected or knew were dirty.
For the record, Lewis-Francis ended up missing two doping tests a little later in his career.

You call it "doping." I call it progress.
Would you want to attend his or her funeral when they hit 45? It happens to many throwers and it happened to Flo Jo. The biggest disservice Al Joyner ever did was to never tell the truth about his wife's doping.
Hahah, great article!

Do you think that rupp and the other doping NOPers wouldn't be dopers if Al Joyner came clean?
