Really? I mean I'm not a fan of the guy, not even close but 7:32 is a solid performance nonetheless, kudos to Farah for not letting the pace lag.
I expected better from Birgen, with 3:33 and 13:04 this year. 3:30.77 best and this is his first year trying the 5K I believe.
For me this wasn't a very impressive run from Farah ... great pacemaking (not super quick, but even) and fairly good conditions (see the times in the steeple, 1500, women's 800), but he wasn't able to pick it up at all the last K.

We haven't seen that many record attempts from Mo but I agree, a nice record to get but I would have at least expect him to be able to sail under 7.30 set up like that. On the other hand he has a lot more gongs than Dave Moorcroft did. Yifter wasn't bothered chasing records and maybe Mo's choices are the right ones.

Well I think the comments about lack of fast times (as a minimum) are getting to him. But Moorcroft was 5s slower than him at 1500m so I am baffled why he found 7.32 such hard work - but that's out of context perhaps unless you can see his current training schedule. Also he has just run a hard 10k.

This is exactly it. He can't touch those records and would really have to run out of his skin to even come within 10 seconds of the 3k and 5k. Why kill yourself trying?

Rudisha's 1:13.1 probably worth somewhere around ~1:42.3. Probably not WR shape but that is likely a good thing this far out from the games. Bodes well for the rest of his season, though. I'd imagine in better shape he might be able to run a 1:12 low.
