It is not about the times, but about exceptionalism or would you not agree that she was the best female sprinter of her age? Times were different where shoes, track, training methods and nutrition where of a total different level.

It would not surprise me that Daphne's performance would be the beginning of new training methods, focusing on her strengths. In that respect Daphne's build is more inline with the males than the other females. The thing is that her muscles were grown from a very young age through the heptathlon. It will be very difficult for a current sprinter, even as young as DAS to equal that.

The problem with this all is that her career of a world class sprinter is very unusual, but probably is a way to build better sprinters. However, it will be very difficult to take the good parts out of the heptathlon and build it into the sprinting trainings program. It is not very logical to let sprinters go through the same training as the heptathlon

You have to have a have a little more than a very fast time and being white to accuse someone from being doped. There is zero evidence or indication for this. If you regard Felix to be clean, the DS deserves a little more credit than that.

Apparently she cannot be linked to drugs in any way. There is another thing going for her. During in the EC in Zurich, she ran, as an heptathlete 22.03 in bad conditions. She had nothing to win or lose as she was not focusing on sprint before april of the same year. Her being on a high profile drug program is just not very likely nor logical. And if she was, we'd probably would have seen a lot of other Dutch athletes suddenly see excel in athletics, which is, as opposed to other countries, just not the case.

Her progression on the 200m in one year where she put much more focus on the sprint, us just .4 seconds, which given her history is not that exceptional. The same for the 100m, .2 seconds in one year where she much more focused on the start. Do not forget the conditions are much better than in zurich

Yes, her times are mind blowing and indeed her time is in a range full of dope suspects. However, I tend to think that DS is unique in many different ways (build, history, tactic and technique) that at least for now she deserves the benefit of doubt.

And whether she is white or black... it just does not matter. Apparently you have a problem with "white power types". I do not get that. You feel that someone is nibbling around edges of "blacks are superior sprinters". I enjoy DAS and DS equally. I see that DAS has the great potential to get even get better than DS. She is fresh and joyable, unlike many of the other sprinters.

Are you going to throw the same suspicion against her?

If you've got the right genes, you'll get there. In each sport you'll find exceptional people that do not match the ethnic majority. That makes sports interesting. Stop whining about dope and enjoy the sport.

Start looking at pictures from Dafne with her parents and her brother, pretty much equal jaw lines. It's a family thing boys, simple minds!

About her acne; this could be the result of hard training. Please enjoy the sport and stop being so stupidly cynical!

Her skin does look bad but using steroids would be crude, stupid and risky. There's much better stuff available nowadays. If she's using something I bet it's not steroids.

You just need to look at the wider picture to work out what's going on.

The track.

THAT track in Beijing is MUCH faster than the one which Flo-Jo ran on in 1988, and yet she is still .3 of a second outside the WR (albeit would have been closer with Flo's +1.3 wind rather than the +0.2 that was in the race).

And THAT track in Beijing is way faster than the one Koch ran on in 1979 when she recorded 21.71

People who think that a 21.63 on a hellishly fast track by a white woman who comes from a power event background (heptathlon) definitely means drugs definitely need their brains testing.

If you watch the race, after the bend unwinds Dafne is possibly in 4th or 5th place. In the last 60-70 m, when the others were slowing just a little, Daf kept going like a train, meaning that unlike all the other 7 girls, she timed her run to perfection. The Jamaican slows up visibly in the last couple of strides. (The winner of a sprint isn't the one who goes the fastest, it's the one who slows down the least, and that was Daf).

Taking into consideration the track, Schippers is clean, end of. (Oh and btw, other people in her family have acne as well, so I guess they must also be doping even though they don't do sport).

im curious,about that one.how much faster do you think the track is?realistically,how fast do you believe marita koch,and flo jo would have run on a track such as that? i know they ran 21.34,and 21.71 on much slower tracks than the ones today,but how much difference do you believe it makes?marita koch ran 47.61 on a much slower track,in 1985,as well.i know tracks are much faster now,so i read,but by how much? feel free to reply,if you see this.i read somewhere that ben johnson's 9.78 would be like a 9.5 on the fast tracks of today,but is that true?

Well Allyson needs to change her drug regiment. She should be running 21:00 by now for the 200M and she should be putting down a 47:00 for the 400M. I hope her coach is reading this so he can go get some of Bolt's yams.

Felix comes across as very feminine for a sprinter and talks alot about god but thats no reason to believe she is cleaner than anyone else.Florence Griffith Joyner went out of her way to make herself look feminine without the same success as Felix mind.

Felix may very well be clean so may be Schippers really we should be giving everyone the benefit of the doubt unless proven otherwise .But i guess thats no fun.
