A final point, Houston is a Nike school so I am thinking that Magness should probably start looking for another place of employment. Phil Knight and Nike have always shown themselves to be vindictive. UH will simply state that his dismissal was due to lack of performance. He would be wise to start looking at Adidas sponsored schools.

I admit, you are right: he either says they are lying or false like...97 times. :)

I guess my point was that his defense was not simply a short poorly constructed PR statement calling them liars. He says they are making false claims, and then backs it up with his version. In turn, you are also correct that he could be the one fabricating the events. I am sure the truth is somewhere in the middle. Mayhaps we will never know.

The counter point to that is the statistical likelihood (probably approaching nil) that Magness, Fleschman, both Gouchers, Don Catlin, Kupczak, Rhotatinsky, and a total of nearly 20 people associated with NOP would all independently report to USADA (not just ProPublica) similar stories of questionable TUE, prescription drug, and testosterone use simply out of malice against Salazar.

The only other valid way you can get such a result is if they all conspired against Salazar together.

Dude you need to read the email evidence.

Gouchers and Magness did not leave NOP on their own terms so they must still hold resentment. I believe the author of the BBC/ProPublica story took advantage of the Gouchers and Magness and coaxed a narrative out of them. I predict that they will claim they were manipulated by the author. You heard it here first.

Almost as if he was building a defense case for years in case of some kind of allegation or indictment.

They either have positive drug tests on you or not.

They either have physical evidence or not.

They either have solid eye witnesses or not.

You don't have to prove innocence.

It's impossible to prove innocence of drug use no matter how many details you provide anyway.

This statement is PR. It's about changing people's perceptions.

So, how many people's perceptions is it going to change?

Didn't someone just post that Houston just qualified a runner to Nationals this year. Seems like that is a start to trying to build a program and certainly isn't lack of performance. Although, I'm not saying Nike won't be d!cks and have him removed from Houston.

There is a certain someone who is gifted at understanding security systems. Who has tolerated a lot. He will always get a free pass to dislike me. I get it. I look at him as person who wants to secure the heart of someone he cares about even though they aren't together anymore. I'm glad to see that.

You are an example to me to take more care of the hearts of the men I've been with. Even if I've felt hurt, I'd hope I will will always hope for the best for them in life and in love. The hard thing about dating is that it feels like musical chairs to find the person for you and I wish it could be easier.

So many people? There have allegedly been 17, though the identities of all of them have not been disclosed.

Alberto has personally coached 55 athletes. Add to that a dozen or so other coaches. Countless physical therapists, strength coaches, medical professionals. The University of Oregon staff. The USATF. IAAF. British Athletics. Agents. Other elite and NCAA coaches. Professional runners he does not coach. Hundreds of Nike employees. The parents and families of all the athletes he has coached.

Thousands of relationships that he has forged over 35+ years as an athlete/coach.

I am sure I have ticked off that many people that they would dislike me in such a manner as well, and I am less than half of Alberto's age and no where near his level of celebrity.

His reputation among the overwhelming majority of those in the running community the world over is one of the greatest in the sport.

If a small select few don't see eye-to-eye with him, that is bound to happen with anybody.

TUEs are wide open for abuse. What he's not mentioning is TUE periods are not standardized and can be quite long.

Salazar specifically stated that the rate of thyroid problems are significantly higher in elite athletes (and used a study to back it up), which are the only type of people that he is coaching. So it would be normal to have a higher % of athletes with thyroid problems compared to the General population %, and he showed the limited use of TUE's which seems to be one of the main points everyone was making. I wonder if the naturally slender body type of distance runners has a predisposition to thyroid problems.

I have a son who has asthma and this is exactly how he is treated. If his asthma flares up even while on a daily controlled steroids inhaler they give him prednisone. It sucks to have asthma and is a handicap not something you want to have for running. It's ridiculous this has gotten so out of hand. The accusations too from the massage therapist claiming they almost had a gay relationship because he'd help with sports massage was really out of line. It's turned into a silly gossip magazine and frankly everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. Kara coming out with evidence of use of thyroid medication when she herself is on it. Same for Lauren, who abused the system herself to get on inhalers. Does anyone else see this as backwards. Why are these athletes coming out with their stories being interrogated when they themselves are using TUES. Is Galen's medical problems not valid because he's fast or involved with NOP? I guess you have to suck for it to okay to have a TUE...

Why is it hard to believe the Gouchers are lying about Alberto? They have never left a coach on good terms before and change their opinions yearly. When they left Wetmore the first time they were all about Salazar, then when she left Salazar it was all "I miss his tricks." Then she comes full circle back to Wetmore again (with a brief stint with Schumacher) even after stating she left on bad terms originally.

The Gouchers can't even keep their own minds straight and we are supposed to believe they are straight forward with us?

The section entitled The Sabotage Test struck me as being super crazy. He cites Gatlin's massage sabotage story as inspiration to begin all kinds of experiments with testosterone creams. There have been jokes about this but literally he says that he was concerned that someone might jump out and rub Galen down with androgel post-race.
