Haha, in all fairness, this kid will likely get the record if he can run like last time and not have bottle problems WITH the new incentive of witnessing a sub 5 now.

But i still don't think bottles are the best idea.

If he used cans (and ran all alone) he could use half empty or empty ones. With the bottles and other people present it'll have to be legit.

Harris went mid 5:20, looked to of been on 5:05 pace but then almost vomited.

Harris did pretty well considering he had a cross country race in the morning. Obviously wasn't too phased about going for a quick beermile. Shame really.

Have any D3 girls gone sub-6:00 in a beer mile? Seems like it would be their event. Maybe sub-7:00 more realistic?

This is the best running performance of 2014. Bar none.

Two guys at Oregon broke 5 at the Shittum meet at Hawyard Field in the mid/late 90's in different years. I believe they used cups so it doesn't fall under the current rules, but some say that they were 16 ounce cups as opposed to a 12 oz. can or bottle.

Those two would have given Nielsen a run under the current rules.

pre-poured cups don't count. The biggest obstacle people face with the beer mile is dealing with the carbonation. If you can air the beer out, it is a different event.
