First,it's not really looking for a reason to be outraged when somebody is found to be a doper.

Also, you guys who are feeling bad for him because he was injured and was just trying to get a temporary edge are unreal.

There are lots of injured runners who come back from injury by doing things like swimming and biking along with rehab exercises. Why should this guy get a pass?

y'al act like you know he bought EPO. in reality he had the INTENT to buy EPO. clearly it wasn't really EPO...check the results man. how the heck do y'al know what EPO is or isn't? he tried to dope and didn't even end up getting the real stuff. in reality he owned up to his mistake like a man, gave USADA information about how the apparent drug was obtained, and helped USADA snatch some other names and investigate other cases. look out for more positives. he was just the first to be honest about it... cut him a break. he's probably still faster than you hope to ever be.

You missed my point. I wasn't saying it wasn't justified to be outraged at cranes himself, the guy knowingly pursued performance enhancement outside of the rules...there's no excusing or apologizing for that he betrayed the sport and at least at higher levels I'd support a lifetime ban (at the amateur/sub elite level is give more leeway).

I don't think anyone has said they feel bad for him for the injury excuse...at least not without a hint of sarcasm.

I was simply saying that the fact that the representative for the club said he "most likely" would not be let on the team rather than "absolutely" not does nothing to further indicate a "drug culture" in northern ohio or that club itself...it simply means he is not in a position to say that right now.

this would almost be plausible, but he didn't get a reduction of any sort, which pretty much means he didn't help them any. if there's any sort of help, they always give at least some carrot to get athletes to sing. doesn't look like this was the case with carnes.

"Jeff Sigmund", the fact there are 2 former or current drug cheats on the "Team Ohio" should be clear you need to enforce a hard and fast rule to make a strong precedent. Carnes without EPO is a 16/33 5k/10k guy. He even cut the course at Cleveland in 2005? when he ran 2:29 out of nowhere.

when/where has carnes run 28's? fastest i've seen was 29:30, and even that was suspect (same course, mid-29's, otherwise rarely, if ever, breaking 30min).

youre right I meant to write 29s (was on my phone), the point holds that here is no drug in the known universe that can take a 33 something 10k guy to the 29s...

you don't know when he started taking drugs, what he could have run without drugs, which drugs he took, what his dosages were, what he could have run without them, etc...

The sad part about all this is none of this matters, hes completely lost credibility in the sport and it doesn't matter if he got a 20 second, a 0 second, or never even PRed from the drugs...when you knowingly and intentionally cheat in this sport, every performance you've ever had in the past or will have in the future cannot be trusted and is invalidated

I believe he's moving to Kentucky for a job anyway so I don't believe it will even be under consideration from this time on. I believe it has been handled appropriately considering the circumstances and the discussions that have taken place with Andrew.

I am APPALLED that it was even CONSIDERED that the DRUG CHEAT would be allowed back on 'Team Ohio.' Good for the guy, his reputation is GARBAGE now and he's high-tailing it out of NE Ohio due to this mountain he will NEVER be allowed to climb.
