Do guys often get better quality wives (looks-wise) if they wait until closer to age 40 to marry?

Everyone always puts an age limit on marriage yet statistics show marriage doesn't even work for more than half of the country so whats the point? Obviously the concept doesn't work. Just seems like people just want someone "there" especially as they get older. That is no grounds to tie the knot and absolutely makes no sense you have family and friends for that. But what about all the 40,50,60 and 70 somethings that divorce and must date or possibly marry? Are these people just out of luck now and cant go back to marriage? Are they just too old now? LoL. I see no point in marriage unless A) you want to raise kids with a S/O or B)You are lonely and afraid of being alone. Either way the amount of people I see in marriages unhappy and cheating especially women is beyond crazy. I think their are actually more married women at the bars and clubs around here than single women looking to attack young studs while their man is working away to pay their bills. From what Ive seen personally 95% of married couples cheat but usually one doesn't have a clue.

Well, that pretty well sums it up. There are some good marriages, but they are few and far between. Most people either end up divorced or endure the agony. Living with anyone is usually a challenge at best. For most, it's a difficult and often painful experience. As you state, most marry either for children or to avoid loneliness or both. Most women I've known have told me that they really don't enjoy being married to a man. They did it for children. And then many get fearful as they age and worry about living out their lives alone. Life is a tough, hard road.

If it is taking you a couple of hours to satisfy you wife, I think you rubbing the wrong spots.

I get the feeling that you must be a woman! If you were 40 years old, you definitely wouldn't want to settle for a 40-year-old woman if you didn't have to do so. I think that there are many women in their late 20s - early 30s who would be open to marrying a 40-year-old man who is professionally/financially successful and has youthful energy or looks. And not all of those women are gold-diggers - some just want to get married and think that guys their age are too immature.

that's because girls at bars are not looking for relationships LoL you as a grown man should know this by now. Girls at the bars regardless of how they carry themselves are looking for quick hookups and one night stands. Most want quick fixes because they just recently broke up with a bf and want too hook up quickly or their husband is boring so they are out at the bar looking for someone to make their life exciting. Most loose interest quickly because of this mentality because they will be at the bars every weekend and always meeting some guy who wants immediate sex so you must act quickly lol. My friend got cheated on by his wife when she was mad at him. Guess were she met the guy? Yep the bar and had a one night stand

Most secure, successful 20 and 30 year old women don't want to settle for a middle aged, aging 40 year old man when they can marry a successful, good looking man their own age. A 40 year old man has his best sex years behind him, why would she settle for someone who might might need viagra in a few years?

It's not the institution of marriage that is corrupt. Our social norms our changing for the worst. The values that were once extoled are now looked down upon as self-defeating. When actually the opposite is true.

We will not get any happier as a civilization this way. Instead of pointing at how many marriages fail, why not take a close look at why they are not succeeding and fix the root of the problem? Narcissism. Love works beautifully when BOTH PARTIES are willing to give everything to each other, make sacrifices, and endure life's hardships together.

Same with me. I was 24 and my wife was 23 when we married almost 25 years ago. She was hot then and is hot now. She has had 4 kids but still keeps her self in great shape through clean eating and a daily fitness regimen. I really feel bad for the guys whose wives just let themselves go and just give up on being fit. I have been to many colleagues' houses and seen pictures of their weddings. Their wives were very hot when they got married, and now they are fat and dumpy. I believe I would always stay faithful, but man it would be a lot harder if my wife were 250lbs.

No doubt about it!!! Women are clueless til approx 33+ years in age! Guys are often as well... So wait til mid 30's+ to get married. We all change from our 20's... Plus you can see if they take care of themselves or let themselves go which majority do after 20's. They have a better sense of themself and know more so what they want and what makes THEM happy. The young ones want YOU to make them happy... Which is not possible... They think marriage is cinderella story and white picket fences.... All Joy... Then they find out it is work and not easy... Society crap...

So yes - wait for older gals to marry...

Um...because women don't actually like or care about sex. They only use it to get things they want (material or emotional) from men.

Some guy is going to come on next and bloviate about how this isn't true and his wife can't go an hour without his highly skilled sexing. By just like not everyone here is a 14:30 5K runner making over $150K/year, I would say that a large percentage of males lack the social skils and economic stability that would allow for the "sit and kick" approach in terms of marriage.

I have to assume that you are in your early 20s and I can understand why you would think this way. As a man, I also questioned why a woman would go for a man 10 years older. However, now that I am in my late 30s, I see this happen all of the time and the women are definitely not always gold-diggers. Some of them simply want to get married and have children and are struggling to find a suitable man so they might look for a man up to 10 years older (or more than 10 years older in some cases).

Women have only a limited amount of time during which to have children, so a woman in her early 30s, for example, cannot afford to be too picky. A lot of women who are picky at that age miss out on the opportunity to have children and they regret it later.

Also, a lot of men reach their late 30s single simply because they worked hard throughout their 20s and early 30s establishing careers and they either didn't have time to find a suitable woman to marry or the women simply didn't want them because those men were just "boring" and worked too much. Of course, by the time those men have established their careers and acquired some financial assets, they certainly do look much more attractive to both women of the same age and younger women. At this point, it should be no surprise that the men take the younger women if they can get them.
