I'm going to scan and share something in just a second to refute this.... before there was OHStrack.com, we had a print magazine by John Hokes called Oklahoma Track and Field News.
Old Camp Goer, it is true that the modern Grant district is loaded with LowRiders, Dickies pantalons that sagg to the floor, and a school lunch menu that consist primarily of microwaved tacos and burritos every single day. I attended Grant in early 90s and was a state qualifier in track. I know have my own children that attend Grant and are trying to play sport.
Me, L.Rose and this new vato Frazier are all alumni, no matter if the state wrote our stats in a book. My question is, after the old building got knocked down, where did most of the memoribilia go? I know it all use to be on a wall in the old building. It should be the Grant alumni's job to keep old pics and trophies that past Grant athletes have won. I went to the Grant Gym the other day and couldnt find any of our old trophies. Does anyone know where their at in the building? Most of the Alumni from my class have mucho mental and physical health problems and are in constant pain and struggle, but i still encourage all alumni to attend class reonions when possible. -M.M.

Larry Rose ran in yards and before modern electronic timing. They used to give him credit for being the State Record holder, and indeed.... when you convert his times, he ran the fastest high school mile ever IN Oklahoma.
Here's a little trivia: anyonne remember when Mark Thompson beat Gabe Jennings in the mile at a National meet in '97 (4:06-8)? I found the results a few years ago. Will have to look around again....

You won't ever change the laws of physics and accept the fact that Webb has a faster h.s., college, professional, and lifetime p.r. in the mile and 1500. Money can buy gold and silver and bronze. Webb IS faster than Ryun, no matter how you convert times.

Interesting that they list Chance's time as the record. I was pretty sure that Phil ran 4.12 somewhere. Either way, Chance was a heck of a runner (as well as a nice guy), and was always curious if he ever went to run anywhere post hs? He was always kind of the newer and sleeker version of Skeet (another great guy they I lost track of) in my mind.

Hey jaguar, to your knowledge has any oklahoma high schooler ever ran faster than Greg Avery's 2 mile time of 9:03.4 in 1979 ? I got that time from Ray Soldan's(daily oklahoman) All Century track team article dated July 25,1999

It's also worth noting Briana McLeod ran 4:50 for 1600m at Golden West and 10:48 for 3200m at Kansas Relays in '03. IMHO, the Jenks girls teams from '00-'03 were the best ever.
