Not that it should matter, but Desi is not black. I too think she will finish in front of Kara and I could care less who agrees or not on some anonymous messageboard. Their times are so close that I think those who think it isn't possible are seriously stupid, no really.
Kara was a National Champ while a collegiate at Colorodao--Desi was barely a scorer on a mediocre Arizona State team.
Kara is coached by the toughest American marathoner of all time--Desi runs for a couple of joggers that own running stores.
Kara has access to all of the latest technology available to any runner in the world--Desi has access to Michigan winter.
Kara has the full support of the Nike marketting machine--Desi has the group of Brooks chimps getting geared up for the next rock and roll event.
Kara has the experience of running up front with the greatest marathoner in the world--Desi can only run from behind.
Kara has a Medal in World Competition--Desi can only dream of such an achievement.
I am going with Desi.
Kara is amazing. She will be the victor.

Lucy, this may seem like an idiotic post at first, but there is actually a firm line of reasoning behind this. What some very well known coaches have maintained is that overtraining, and a lack of proper recovery from workouts leads to sluggishness (lack of awareness, alertness, quick response to missteps) and being brittle. As result, ankle twists, hitches in the stride that lead to more serious bouts with legitimate long-term injuries, illnesses, often are the result from overtraining.
Then again, maybe you just get attacked by a dog on your long run...who knows
