4:17.4 (1600), back in the day it was 4:29.9 -- M'god I coulda been a rock star. I didn't run at the time.
I never knew Culpeppar ran 4:03 for the mile in High School, I did know that he ran 3:50 for 1500 however. From the mid 1980's through the late 1990's the top mile times I recall were in the 4:01-4:04 range by John Quade, Chris Lewis, Michael Stember, Gabe Jennings, Jonathon Riley, and Sharif Karie. Jason Pyrah might have run 4:04.
Don't recall Culpeppar. I wonder what race that was.
