Years ago, when a buck was a buck,when a man was a man,and all that, a kid blew into Boulder (and hasn't left) from a school in Boston. He was a good runner. I was charging $1.00 to enter a 5 mile race and the winner got a housefull of furniture. He asked me to waive the entry fee because he was too good to pay. I told him that if a dollar was too much to pay for all that furniture, he should stay home. He did. I'm not sure that he would have beaten Sinclair anyway.

Someone with an income as large as Deena's should not be looking for a comp'd $25 entry fee to a race that benefits a charity. That is simply in poor taste. In this case, the money she (would) have spent would have gone to the homeless, a public library, and an affordable housing fund.

If the race was a for-profit venture, I might have a different opinion.

I think that you ran against him in college.

Please pat yourself on the back from all of us. Before judging Deena did you ask her about the circumstances or did you just make a few assumptions? It sure seems like you are assuming that she doesn't already give to good causes. Did you ask to see a record of any and all donations she's made in the past year?

that $12000 and more was offered in elite prize money in the past. now the 50's are handed out at the finish line with the charity bowl 5 feet after the finish line. most put the $$$ in the charity bowl. yes, it is now a community charity event. suits the community just fine to keep entitled elites, and wanna be elites, out.

Tiger Woods calls and asks to be "comped" for your local tournament? Do you insist he pay the $25 like everyone else?

Michael Jordan calls and asks for his 3 man team to be "comped" to play in your local 3-on-3 tournament. Do you insist they pay like everyone else?

Peyton Manning calls and asks for his flag football team to be comped for your local tournament. Do you insist they pay like everyone else?
