I'm a novice, so sorry for the dumb question but is the Fastwitch considered a flat?

There isn't a rock solid definition of "flats." I think the Fasttwitch comes close. It's pretty low heeled as I recall, but there certainly is more to it than there is to the Kilkenny.
The first iteration of the Fastwitch, the one I had, actually had quite a high heel for a flat. Measurements were 24/12mm as I recall. The Filas I like so well have just a 9mm differential, and a few Nike models in my stable seem flatter than that.
That Fastiwtch seemed to me more like a trainer in character - higher heel, less flexible, more support - but really light, truly flat weight. A fine choice if that's what you're looking for. Probably the right sort of shoe for someone who just wants to race in flats while training in trainers.
"any old timers or younger runners actually do any runs in these originial Waffle Racers?"
I bought a pair of vintage Waffle Racers a few weeks ago and like them very much. Just ordered another pair from the net.
For every-day training they are almost perfect for me. I don't like to use them for uphill reps, because they feel a bit weird going up a steep hill. At the moment I use Waffle Racers for medium long runs, easy runs and some faster workouts. Haven't taken them for a really long run yet. I think they will work well in that department also. They do have some cushioning, and a slight heel lift.
hey, did you wear the originals? if so, how do they compare? you must like 'em to buy 2 pair. I'm wondering if they have any cushion besides the waffles in the forefoot. thanks for the info.. you got me thinking.
