Mike, are you trolling us?
Nobody actually believes that. The gold medalist is an amazingly great athlete. I think it's the best athletic accomplishment (or my favorite maybe). But most great athletes are going to choose a sport that brings them money and acclaim. Basil Shabazz, record sprinter whom I mentioned earlier, might have been a Bo-level football player but he chose baseball because they cut him a signing check. Mark Bradley high-jumped 7-4, long-jumped over 25 ft, and ran 13.8 hurdles in high school at 200 lbs and chose to have a mediocre by NFL standards but lucrative football career. What about RG3? Ashton Eaton may be as good an athlete as any of them, but is he automatically better because he chose track?
Again, I'm a track guy. I think the decathlon is the greatest thing ever. But there are great athletes who choose to pursue other things. Is the Tour de France winner a greater endurance athlete than the marathon record holder or the Olympic 5k champ because it's a tougher test and I like watching it more?
