How fast will Goucher and Torres go on the 2nd???

Interesting developing sidebar to the August 2 race: Bob Kennedy is going after the A standard with Torres and Goucher and could take the team's third spot if no one else ahead of BK at USATFs gets it, which is quite possible. Maybe all three of these guys will qualify. BK did run 28:01 for 10,000 in May so it could happen.

well Malone thats fairly simple. You can lose a race faster then your pr if your pr is seconds off of what you are capable of. If a pace of 257 is more suitable to produce a better time for Torres, going out in 300 won't produce his best possible time. Get him in a race that goes a couple seconds faster before the kick and he will break his pr by a couple seconds. If you call races that go out at 4 minute pace fast and setting him up for a pr...Than i can understand your point...But thats not fast. And thats not going to set him up for a time that would reflect how fast he is over that distance. For example...robison won Ncca's in 340? then went over to europe. If the race he was in went out a couple seconds slower he would have ran slower and still lost. And that would ahve been a race where it was faster then his pr...yet he still lost. And not as fast as he was capable of.

That is the most absurd thing I have ever read. I am oftentimes at a loss for words when I read your posts because you use such off the wall logic. WHy is it that you always think a person can easily go 2-4 seconds faster than their PR? What indication has Jorge shown that he can run faster than 3:42? A 1:51 800?

You can go ahead and believe he can run faster in your hypothetical situation, and keep waiting for it to happen. But until he does he's a 3:42 type, he's run in that range numerous times by now.

And every single time he has ran 342 the pace has been the same. My point is completely valid and your failure to understand my logic is a solely a reflection of your failure to use your brain as well. He runs a 342 last year early season....and you thikn that was all he was capable of that entire year? You think that someone is in their best 1500 shape before they really get into their speed work? You think Torres went into his last race trying to go well under his pr? He went with the pace and the pace was not conducive to produce his best time. It would have been ill advised for Torres himself to push the pace to bring up a big pr for himself with him trying to qualify in a week. Anyone who truely thinks that someone is sharpest before they start their speedwork has got some serious misunderstandings of how track works. Torres last year was probably capable of going 339-340 at seasons end. And he is this year as well maybe a few tics faster.

Actually, the use of "either" is correct in that sense because "jealous/bitter/hero-hater" is modifying the person he was talking about. Therefore, there are only two ways that person can be (ie the "jealous/bitter/hero-hater" or not) and so "either" is the correct word to use (he EITHER is "jealous/bitter/hero-hater" or he is not, and either way he is a f***ing moron). "Any" would be wrong because it would imply that the person could be "jealous/bitter/hero-hater" or not or some third of which there has been no mention. Do you need any further refreshing on compound adjectives?

Now that that is clear, I think Bam was mostly reacting to the comment that Pre was never an elite level runner, which is obviously absurd.
