Good news, seems like he's going back to South-Africa. He wouldn't go there if he was injured.
Maybe I was wrong the whole time and he's completely fine.
As many of you have pointed out, he’s going to the US, not South Africa. I don’t think they’re in Flagstaff. His wife posted a snap showing the temperature was 22°C (71°F), it’s surely not that warm in Flagstaff in February.
I’ve also noticed that his wife is being quite cryptic about their location. She’s an influencer and usually shares everything going on in her life, but this time she hasn’t mentioned where they are—other than saying they’re in the US. Jakob has also stopped posting on Snapchat and his other social media channels.
To be honest, this is making me even more worried. Why would he be in the US if not in Flagstaff? I agree with some of the others here—this could be related to treatment or surgery.

I’ve poster here before (and gotten mass downvoted) that the injury is not looking great. Everyone who was at camp in November in Sierra Nevada knows this.
While I'm not treating him, I saw him today with my own eyes. I'm not going to give any details on what I saw or his apparent injury but he is currently in the Bay Area. I imagine from what I observed he'll stick around these parts for another 2-4 weeks for treatment. To say more would be reckless.
Are you a doctor or nurse? It would be very wrong to have posted this, even if you are not the one treating him.

What a load of rubbish. How could his injury prognosis have been bad in November if he was running 100mpw in December/January?

I have no clue if he ran 100 mpw in January or not, where have you seen it? He was running a lot in Sierra as well but with significant pain that made him cancel Euro XC. I can only tell you that the Achilles was not good back then.
I think like any great, Jakob is tremendously stubborn and does not feel he can take time off. He needs a big surgery like Gebrselassie had to then return to great form.
Frogner, you must be fun at parties! Relax, I wasn't at work yesterday. Fact: he had on a walking boot on his left foot. Speculation: given this, his most recent injury and his location in the Bay Area: He is in town to get RSW, FSW, EMTT +/- PRP . At this point surgery would seem unlikely to me.
PS: world class distance runners don't swarm to Germany for achilles treatment even if there are a couple docs there that are top notch.

Are those treatments a US only thing? I feel like he has already been trying. If he is on a boot though, no chance he is returning for the outdoor season. We’ll see a 2027 comeback.

Is that effective treatment for an achilles injury?
