btw Devon was actually a beast about 25 years ago in endurance events (won the army Ironman which consisted of canoeing, a run with a pack and canoe in army boots, and one other think idk what - maybe swimming?) and his stong suit was the run. But I’d smoke him in a run now. He’s gained tons of weight and doesn’t run anymore. I’m telling you this bc I know you’re not the real Devon!
1. Trivia (think Jeopardy! or LearnedLeague or quiz bowl or something similar to that). Assuming we're playing on questions that are aimed at a primarily American audience, there will be very few people outside of the US who can beat me on those questions. And out of everyone in the US, I'm probably in the top 100-200 people.
2. Soccer refereeing. I'm not that high up on the totem pole, but it's a pretty niche skill. I can't remember the exact count, but I've probably done over 1000 games, including semifinals of HS state playoffs and an NPSL game. I could try to upgrade to regional, but it really wouldn't be worth it where I live unless I want to do a lot more traveling.
3. 4:57 mile. Not that great in the big scheme of things, but I'm in better distance-running shape than pretty much all the refs I work with (aside from perhaps a handful who are currently playing high school or college soccer). And this would probably knock out almost anyone who could beat me in trivia.
I was ranked top 20 nationally among individual quiz bowl players by my senior year in high school, and was twice on my state's 'A' team at the national all-stars tournament (and on a much less competitive level, this week my local bar trivia night announced they're handicapping me going forward by only letting me play half the game (I was regularly scoring more than double anyone else)). I would be very curious where you and I stack up against each other in this arena.
I have also run a 4:45 mile. Point mine on that one.
You've got me on soccer refereeing though, I don't know the first thing about the game.
My three things would be my trivia skills, my ability to correctly determine the exact age of milk by scent alone, and the quality of my erotic texting to partners. I have yet to put any of these to financial use, but I choose to be optimistic!
3) Successfully took (killed) a whitetail deer with a bow on a solo hunt
Throw in an over 40 year old requirement and I doubt few people have done this trifecta in a 12 month period. Doesn't make it impressive, just moderately unique.

I was in high school before HSNCT, NSC, and NASAT got really big, but I did play ICT once and cracked the top 30 individuals. We didn't have a ton of really great teams in my state, but I definitely would've made any sort of all-star team as a junior and senior in HS.
If you took really good HS players and I played them on HS questions, I'd probably lose, but most non-QB formats have pop culture stuff that skews older and helps me. A lot of people have deeper knowledge of certain subjects, but my knowledge range is a lot wider than most people's.
If you were top 20 at HSNCT or something similar in the past 15 years, there's a good chance you'd beat me at quiz bowl.

Hey, I had to get bigger for Levan. What made you think we'd be running? I know my boxing debut against Thor wasn't too impressive, but I'm counting on taking you easily.
1. Half Marathon 1:10.42 PB. I figure this eliminates essentially 99.9% of the worlds population
2. Magic: The Gathering match.(played on the pro tour for awhile) Huge Nerd bonus points.
3. Bowling- multiple 300 games and have averaged in the 220's for a season.
Post it up. what do you got where no one else can beat you!?
These aren't niche enough. They're all very popular hobbies. I have you beat in the half marathon easily. I also play Magic competitively and have bowled a 300 once. So I might be able to get lucky and beat you at the other 2. You need to pick things that are super specific to you like a task at your job or something in your house.
is hobbs kessler smart? my first two would be running and climbing, both of which he could dust me at, but I'm also pretty smart, so maybe I can out-math him?

Um, running is one of the 3 things you have to beat me at in order to beat me at all 3? Hence the point of the thread. Cool that you follow aw a bit though!
Cool post. At my best: 1. Ranked #39 in a weak year for the US in the marathon. But even giving others the benefit of the doubt lets say i was the slowest at the OTs. So that leaves about 200 in the US and how many in the rest of the world? 2. hanging and installing siding. Im sure other OT marathoners had construction experience but summers installing siding in high school and college would probably be hard to beat. How common is installing siding outside of the US? 3. need for speed most wanted on Xbox 360. This was before online gaming got huge but I was never beat by anyone in this game.
- I feel like it’s most fun to try and pick actionable things. I could also add knowledge of psychology (career) or knowledge of the Bible (raised in a Christian home and the church) but that’s less fun.

Darn it. Well, no one accused me of being smart. In fact this proves that I'm me.
1. Be top 4 in your states 1600m championship as a junior in high school
2. Double audition in your states yearly high school music festival and be ranked in the top 10 violinists and also top 10 classical guitarists out of your whole state in the same year
3. Have 7 years of consistent snowboarding experience before the age of 16
also bonus since everyone is adding something from their dork side, beat an extreme demon difficulty level in Geometry Dash
I don’t think you have to do anything impressive for this post you just gotta be real specific
