Spencer’s teammate Camron Johnson (Jr) went from 17:28 5k at NXR last year to 15:43 at Clovis this year. Even his track season didn’t suggest that he would make this big jump. Must have had an amazing summer
German's record still stands, this one has a huge super shoe-shaped asterisk next to it.
The legend that is German will never die--kid from Riverbank, normal XC flats, no super foams, working the next shift at Applebee's. Ballerness
Of course, it depends on how you specify what “talent” means, but I’m convinced German was the most talented distance runner in U.S. history. He was a year young for his class, got a late start in running, played basketball, and had inconsistent high school training due to injuries, and managed incredible times.

I think that 2.1 marker is off but he was at 2 miles at 9:18 I believe. He definitely picked it up after based on his leg turnover and how he looked that last mile.
The time is black and white and is faster, so it is the record. However, German did it in old style shoes. The difference is likely in the 5sec/mi range, plus there is a training effect. There are a lot of supplements in use now, also.
Man that 2022 a graveyard of talent.. anyone who says girls fall of the face of the earth after high school just needs to follow boys high school running.. guess jury is still out on some of these guys -
1 Aaron SAHLMAN 12 NEWBURY PARK 14:44.5 204.17 204
2 Daniel SIMMONS 11 AMERICAN FORK 14:51.7 201.77 202
What everyone on this list is up to - very mixed results
1. Sahlman- Mostly injured. Ran 25 min 8k
2. Simmons - Mission. Will be back next year
3. Gorze - 84th at NCAA cross last year. Entered in Nuttyconbe this weekend with team. 28:20 10k and regional qualifier
4. Mathison - Turned into a steepler, made USA's and NCAA's past couple years. 8:32 last year. Should be competing for NCAA title in outdoor
5. Heidesch - Legit has fell off the face of the earth. Still listed on Duke's roster but seems he was chronically injured. Always wonder why he chose Duke as a blue chip recruit but he is on the start list for Nuttycombe so this will be his first ever race for Duke
6. Birnbaum - Probably the most successful of the list so far. 3:52 miler. Made USA's. A favorite for mile/1500 national title
7. Breker - 14:19 for 5k
8. Brown - 202nd at NCAA Cross last year. Racing this weekend at home meet
9. Anderson - Great Indoor season last year. 9th at NCAA's in the Mile. 22nd at NCAA outdoors in the 1500 as a true frosh 3:54 miler. 91st at NCAA cross last year. Racing this weekend. Will be one of the top returning milers
10. Jones - 13:48 5k, 8:54 steeple. Racing this weekend
11. Young - Turned into a 1500 guy while his brother got into the 10k. 13:31 5k. 92nd at NCAA Cross last year
12. Grevious - Redshirted the entire year so technically a freshman. Ran 24:01 so far and is on roster for Nuttycombe this weekend
13. Donis - Went JUCO at MT sac but no results from 24-25. Wasn't on the roster. Won JUCO States in 24 in the 1500 and 5k
14. Echohawk - Seems to be finding his footing at Oregon. 16th at Cowboy jamboree this year. 17th at Big 10s last year. 3:58 miler
15. Kipyego - 3:39 1500 and 3:54 miler. 93rd at NCAA cross last year. Should be one of the better milers in the country come indoor.

A kid demolishes one of the more hallowed high school XC course records and we are…checks notes…arguing about the Woodbridge course measurements?
I honestly can’t process this. I thought after the recent Newbury Park assault, German’s record might live forever. Taking 7 seconds off of it…just wow. What the actual f####_embed0_####amp;k is he going to do on the track this spring, considering the marks put up by the guys he just demolished??
Liberals being Liberals brah. So we are told. Ahem
If you watch other videos you will see the cycle is 12-15 feet or more in front of him the whole time, the camera is just locked in on the leaders. This is no different than the golf carts used in most meets for filming and leading the way. No advantage given there unless every college race now needs to be thrown out as well. The best advantage Jackson had was Maximo Z pushing him would be my guess. Maximo is a monsta
I was not 12-15 feet, 25-40 feet; watch hdrunner for the drone shots of myself leading Jackson. The reason it looks close is because I'm recording in 8k which allows me to zoom in 200% and still maintain 4k.
