Something to keep in mind: it might be hard to compare to typical doping, because even if athletes get away with it they have to dope only moderately or they run a high risk of getting caught. With this, Fred can swallow a pharmacy and see what happens.

So he'll be training alone, not racing between now and the games themselves and they're expecting him to A) be fit that month and B) be good? Good luck.

The Enhanced games will only work if they get a huge % of the top athletes, like Liv Golf did. Even then, it'll be a huge money pitt. So it wouldn't last long without them dramatically cutting salaries.

In the context of "proof that peds work", Houlihan's case wouldn't be applicable without any related performances to compare.

And with respect to "most", I've been asking for what proof exists that "peds works", for elite athletes in distance running, long before Houlihan's case.

My questions about Houlihan's case don't center on her performances, but on the ability of the evidence to draw any conclusions about the endogenous/exogenous origin.

Kerley’s decision led to his being dropped by his agents, Pace Sports Management, who also represent Usain Bolt and Mo Farah. Ricky Simms, the head of Pace Sports, said: “We did not negotiate this deal and no longer represent Fred Kerley.”

Agreed. In a vacuum it appears like he would run faster but that's not accounting for the possibility (likelihood) he was already doping, the fact that he probably won't have an elite training group or coach, the lack of competition and the almost certain failure of the "Enhanced Games." Sure, plenty of Cro-Magnons in twitter/IG comments say they want to see this type of competition few will ever watch. It's still an unpopular, non-viewer friendly sport. Most viewers won't even be able to tell the difference in performance (this isn't Barry Bonds hitting a baseball 500+ ft, it's a guy maybe running 100m .02 seconds faster). I hope Fred has a plan for getting paid before this thing goes belly up!

The Enhanced Games might actually be a good thing for science, and "clean sport" in general. We'll finally get to see what kind of organ failures happen when athletes are unabashedly abusing PEDs.

Typically steroids make tendon injuries worse since the muscle grows faster than the tendons. But possibly there are some other banned substances out there that can help with tendon growth.

Fred has and always has been his own man, that’s for sure.

Swimming is already seeing a lawsuit from EG that WADA has an unfair monopoly over sport and shouldn't be able to permanently ban swimmers from participation in the sport at large if they don't dope as part of a sanctioned competition/training for a sanctioned competition.

I think they have a case (NCAA and and AAU made similar arguments in the vein of "sport purity" to prevent NIL and professionalization respectively) but the fact that athletes can benefit from training done from using PEDs in the past will probably put the big orgs over the line for the win.

Maybe Peter Thiel is willing to throw his money away and subsidize the Enhanced Games, but I can't imagine how this is actually financially viable. We know GST didn't make financial sense and regular track only works because of heavy outside subsidies from shoe companies, the sale of Olympic broadcasting rights, local organizing committee subsidies, etc.

Stuff like WWE has the doping but it's popular because of all the BS melodrama, not because it's an actual athletic competition. Nobody cares about actual wrestling even at the Olympics.
I can't imagine anyone wanting to watch a doped up Fred Kerley race other doped up losers in a straight race or anyone paying much for broadcasting or sponsorship rights.

I think you're at least mildly underestimating how interesting the average person is gonna find this concept. I see it brought up every Olympic cycle with thousands and thousands of likes and comments - "I wonder what someone going FULL TILT with steroids could do?"

This has nothing to do with Trump. What would you do in your profession if you had two possibilities doing the same training:

1. You train for 2 years without any income

2. You train 8 months and possibly can earn 1 mil or more. Just winning the competition in May is worth 500k. Also you get to test your limits in a new type of challenge which is mentally refreshing.

It's pretty normal for people to change their employer every 3-5 years. Fred has already been a conventional track pro for 10 years. It is a good time for a change.
