Brosnan was a guest on the podcast on Tuesday. He told us he that her personally recorded the audio version of the book. This week only, if you join our Supporters Club, we'll send you a copy of the book and a free t-shirt as Rojo's college roommate Chris Lear is a co-author.
I’m listening to the audio book with an open mind and loving it so far! It’s interesting to see how everything with NP happened from Brosnan’s perspective. I gotta admire the unwavering belief he has in himself and am rooting for his pro group to be successful. If I were a college grad without an offer from Swoosh TC or OAC, I would sign with Brosnan
Shouldn’t he have had unwavering belief in his runners? They ran the races and not him.
Brosnan does an amazing job balancing science with feel and has a long-term vision that’s rare as hell. If you want to ridicule him, fine, but at least know what the heck you’re talking about. Read the book or be the mature adult and walk away. I read it in two days and like most have been saying I’m pleasantly surprised how good it really was.
This is only if you’re self published. Beyond Fast is not self published. Your numbers are wrong and way off. Amazon won’t show you exact sales. You’ll only see your Amazon Best Sellers Rank (BSR), which updates hourly, that in itself are making your judgement wrong. That number reflects recent sales velocity, but it doesn’t reveal how many copies total. Brosnan’s book is very high and selling tons. Congrats to him

A long-term vision that’s rare as hell? I guess you read that in his book, but it’s absolute bullsh*t.

Bro you have been hating on Newbury Park and Brosnan from years. Remember hate comes from fear and insecurity. You speak loud and clear. We hear your nonsense and it’s embarrassing at this point.

What I learned reading Brosnan’s book was he took an unconventional route into coaching. He didn’t climb the usual ranks most typical coaches do. instead, he learned directly from some of the best coaches and his athletes, experimenting with training methods and focusing on both mental and physical side of training in many different ways all while observing some of the greatest in the sport. By prioritizing long-term development over quick wins, he built a reputation for innovation and results, proving that coaching isn’t about racing, racing and racing, but more about understanding and inspiring the people you lead with a mix of science and gut feelings. Sorry if I sound like a fanboy, but this book was brilliant and I did not think I would love it as much as I did. Some stories just inspire and this one definitely did just that.
I’ve got a 22 hour drive to do this coming Friday, and am going to purchase Brosnan’s new book on audio (releases tomorrow). Obviously a very controversial and polarizing figure here amongst the shining stars that are Letsrun, but undeniably nurtured along some outstanding athletes from two different families. Newbury was a juggernaut here in CA for a few years, and I’m looking forward to perhaps getting a little inside baseball.
I just finished Sean Brosnan’s Beyond Fast, and it blew me away even more than Running with the Buffaloes. It’s an electrifying read about how Brosnan transformed a scrappy high school team into national champs with his wild coaching style—grueling workouts mixed with deep mental prep. The story of Newbury Park’s rise, packed with vivid moments and heart, hit me harder than Lear’s classic, which I loved for its raw grit. Beyond Fast feels bigger, more inspiring, and left me pumped to push my own limits.

Damn, a lot of deleted posts on this thread, kinda crazy knowing Sean is a moderator here. Why is he allowed to delete anything negative or skeptical being said about him?

Anyone else curious as well?
Did you listen to it ? Safe travels my friend
Not yet. I’ve downloaded it, and am doing my best to not start it until our long drive Friday.

You don’t know me. From the beginning, I have been a big fan of the Sahlman and Young brothers. That I find Brosnan’s self-promotion to be off-putting has nothing to do with the brothers or their teams.
Long-term focus is very vague and since there have been so many athletes that have successful in HS, college and beyond, I don’t think it’s unique to Brosnan. Maybe Brosnan explains balancing feel and science but I doubt it made any difference in how fast the brothers ran.
I’ve read and watched countless interviews with coaches and they always want to praise their athletes and not talk about themselves. Here’s Angelo Dundee discussing Muhammad Ali:
“Ali was a great natural talent and he would have been a great champion without me. I'll be the first one to say it wasn't me - he was the guy and outside the ring, it was him who taught me. He taught me patience, he taught me decency.”

Here is a gods honest review:
Reading this book I see why his passion is contagious, and his intensity raises the standards of everyone around him. Brosnan also has a different kind of way to block out outside noise. The dude focuses only on the process, the team, and the goals, which is why his runners often overachieve and run fast. I was unaware of his journey and commitment to coaching until I read his book. Although I have two chapters left. And You can say this is a phony post all you want, but this book was so good and I don’t give a crap what the haters say at this point. Give credit where credit is due.

Dundee was a coach worthy of respect.
I’ve been looking at the message boards for years, but rarely post. Only when I see fit and now is the time I see fit. Your posts are always negative directed at Sean Brosnan are driven by jealousy and yes like the other poster suggests big time insecurity on your part. Instead of recognizing his success, innovation, and the impact on running and had on athletes, you try to tear him down because it’s easier than building anyone up. Brosnan’s confidence, fearlessness, and ability to win despite criticism make him a target for those who feel threatened by his achievements. In reality, the hate says more about the poster’s bitterness than it does about Brosnan’s coaching.
