Naser accidentally moves inside a lane coming off the last turn. Wonder if they'll DQ. Looks likely she arguably ran a slightly shorter distance, but she was a clear 2nd and I wonder if GST will want to remove some excitement/drama for the next race with a DQ.
Just negative split 1:43. Crazy strength. He'll do some crazy things later this summer
Yeah another excellent effort from Arop, but nothing surprising about it.
In general I think that in trying to have this value proposition of "racing first" with no pacers and lights, Johnson and his team were probably hoping that these races would be a little more unique than they have been.
But the reality is I feel like even in this grouping (easily the best grouping he has) all of these races are still as predictable as what happens elsewhere in the track world. This 800 felt no different to either Kingston or Miami and the 1500m tomorrow might have a little more interest because of Kessler and Hoey but this is also fitting in with the pattern we've seen. Giles will be battling it out with Chapple for 7th and 8th, Arop motivated to see if he can possibly pick off a body and get a 5th place which puts him in contention but it will likely be Nuguse, Kerr, Hocker and the two best challengers deciding the 1500 - kind of like we've seen in each slam so far.
They are good performances but still nothing really separating themselves from the DL/Continental tour, or am I wrong?
I was told that the women don’t run championship slow races. Also was told that eliminating the 5000 would make for a fast 3000 race. Nope.
I like watching this format, but don’t pretend they are going to set fast times.
The top two times in the world this year in the women’s 5,000m were run at GST Miami. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th fastest times in the women’s 3,000m this year were run at that same meet.

What happened today? I was told cutting the 5000 would make the 3000 faster.

The race played out differently. That’s part of the intrigue with non-rabbited racing. It’s not as predictable.
