these are SBs comments. A good Cliff Notes for the last two years:
Serious questions of legitimacy remain around this person's previous charity ultra runs. In short: he may well have faked some of his tracking data. His American Transcon was the subject of one of the longest ever threads on Letsrun.com
Read and make up your own mind:
I personally don't think he should be reported on without mentioning the obvious irregularities around his previous charity runs.
P.S. The same pattern of irregularities (consistently anomalous HR readings for long periods of time, after initially showing completely normal readings) are already showing up in this run. When doing conventional events, like the London Marathon, Mr. Goodge produces very ordinary results and slightly higher than normal HRs. Whereas when doing charity ultra events like this one, he routinely produces top class performances while recording very low (walking speed) HRs. Even when accelerating or going uphill, his HR readings often remain very low and completely flat.
Finally, Marley, since you were the one who broke the story about Camille Herron's wikipedia indiscretions, why aren't you more interested in looking into the well documented problems around Goodge's charity record-breaking efforts? People routinely mention that this guy doesn't fit the mold of a typical record-breaking ultra runner (different physique and training habits). Could that be because he's actually NOT a record-breaking ultra runner?
