Whereabouts Gabby should win this one comfortably.

Or a lightning warning.
I hope he didn’t go thinking he could escape in the crowd.

Not a good sign so far with the crowds...granted, I think a majority of the GST fanbase is in the US, so the Philadelphia, Miami, and LA meets will probably do better. Not many people are taking a vacation to Jamaica on a random weekend April to watch GST for a weekend.
I don't think many locals in Jamaica care about a US-based track league.
That was the easiest 50k gabby Thomas has ever made.
Low fan turnout. No outreach to give away tickets at popular BOYS AND GIRLS CHAMPS meet in Jamaica last weekend.
Peacock broadcast with Matthew Centrowitz, John Anderson, Sanya Richards-Ross.
Other options:
I hope the youtube creator livestream is better.
Insight from the sprint color commentator is something...
Agreed.
But again, if the race is good and athletes like the prize money, this will get figured out.
Anyone thinking that the amount of fans in the stands in Jamaica was going to be exceptional… I don’t know what to tell you. The amount of fans in the stands was the last thing I was thinking about when turning on Peacock. That’s definitely a planning error and the first slam should have been in a massive market.
This is fudging cwap

They really dropped the ball in not getting a meet in Europe nailed down. I get all the talk about building an audience, untapped markets, etc. But you need the product to look good. People watching on TV need to feel like they're missing out by not being there. Holding a meet in the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, or any of the Nordic countries almost guarantees you a 75% full stadium that looks good on TV. That attracts other spectators for future meets, it attracts advertisers. It makes the whole thing a bit more financially viable in the long-term.
I hope the racing is good, but they need to make this look like a spectacle. People need the FOMO if this is to survive
Having gimmicky formats, none of the biggest European stars and no field events means there's little reason for European fans to care. There's a reason for why Diamond League events focus primarily on Europe and not the US, because track and field is more popular here than in Europe.
In Europe you can straight up host events with a single discipline that has a better atmosphere from the crowd than what GST has.
Reckless spending. To build what they are trying to build takes time and people that understand the business of putting on events. it’s a long burn….not a singular moment of bang. I hope they somehow sustain being around for a few years because this money could have been spread across a ton of different ways to organically grow the sport….
Not complaining about the Gabby Thomas slomos though.
Poetry in motion.
Gabby destroyed that field. Do they have wind readings? That was pretty slow across the board for the field.
I am surprised Paulino took second, that puts her in good position to win overall
lol. Creater stream is with a camera from 1 mile away.

They should have just given tickets to high school track athletes in the area and given them Vuvuzelas or something. Say what you will about the Diamond League, but those European stadiums are usually pretty full.
are they filming the start from a blimp?
The cheerleaders look bored.
