LRC. This thread was initially titled, "Yared Nuguse is Gay: Hard launch post on Insta"
3/30 update: We are closing this thread to new posts. I did an ok job of following it for a few pages and moderating it but now am 10+ pages behind. The thread has served its purpose - the news has gotten out and people have reacted to it - we don't need pages and pages of the same discussion.
All I care about is how fast he runs, and he runs fast. I also saw him at the BU Last Chance Meet a few weeks ago, and what an ambassador for the sport, spending time right after his race, where he tried unsuccessfully to break the world record, so could have been disappointed, but instead taking pics with kids, signing their gear, sweat still pouring off him, big smile on his face. What a role model for young athletes everywhere.
Hats off to the brave and the proud gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and nonbinary individuals making American track and field great again!
Where are the red capped members of the master race in our sport? It must be difficult losing to all of these DEI athletes despite all of the hard work and prayer?
Good for him. But it’s non of our business who he loves. I care about him running fast. What he does behind closed doors is his personal business!
You're on the thread posting about it. He shared it with HIS followers on Instagram. He clearly feels that it is important enough to share... How dense are you?
Every time anyone famous comes out, there is bound to be a group of weirdos that both somehow "don't care at all" and also want to live in a world where they never have to hear that a gay person might possibly exist. Get over yourself.

I have read only this first post so far. I dread what the next 6 pages will bring.
For the record - I am a one man Pride Parade. (I am hopelessly hetero, for what it matters.) Why do so many people get so hung up on this? Love is love.
Why did Letsrun publish a quiz about it? Seems weird:
What was the nature of Yared Nuguse's announcement on Instagram? - He retired from running - He came out as gay - He won a medal - He started a new training program
