Hormones are enormously important to our development but seriously understudied. You do animal studies because you don't want to experiment on people. Remember that some people, I think wrongly, believe that so-called gender affirming care is harmless. Scientists examining that question in Great Britain found that it is not. We need science to establish that because some people would go through it otherwise. Some people think that hormones don't affect athletic performance. Scientific studies can establish that and how and to what degree it does. That's why you finance scientific research, to get at the underlying physical explanations of our world, and then to use them for the purpose of life.
