Hopefully they’ll also kill the $10,000 a month pensions that American taxpayers are paying to the manifold retired federal workers. They should go back groceries.
Pensions should go away. Just pay the people while they're working, they already have a social security safety net when they're old. A lot of the people who complain about their pay are people who have pensions. If they just got paid more now and not from the pension they'd complain less.

Why stop there? Just go full Soylent Green and liquidate the non-workers.
This whole thing could not be more archetypical of idiots coming into power and thinking they’re smarter than everyone else despite having no experience in what they’re meddling with and clearing house in the name of streamlining. I’ve seen it in venture capital moves where a company is sold and the new owners fire all the experienced people making good wages in effort to squeeze value out of it and then what was a good company becomes a shell of its former self. And now Musk and Trump and doing it with the federal government.

They are making plenty now. No reason to continue funding them after they’ve quit doing their job.
Guys retiring at 55 in government positions making a 10K a month pension for the rest of their lives. WTF! I don’t wanna pay for that!
No federal employee is making 10k per month from their pension alone. Its their pension, social security and payments from the retirement accounts that equal 10k month
This holds government employees accountable to actually do work. I work as a contractor in the gov’t and have to file a monthly report detailing my work. If I didn’t have to file the report, I would take less initiative at my job and do the bare minimum. The civil servants in my program are lazy and waste a lot of taxpayer money- holding them accountable is a great thing to do
How does this hold anyone accountable? People can make up anything they want to justify their job on a memo. Is Musk going to read millions of emails? Will his DOGE crew be reading them?
This is just a stupid game Musk can post about on his platform.
exactly. let's cut the crap. everyone could write the most beautiful term paper ever explaining the need for the agency and their job........and musk is still either burning the whole agency down (USAID) or firing x% of head count.
no, this is papering the file for the lawsuit. "i thought his or her email was unconvincing." all the probationaries who never got a performance review sent letters saying they were being fired for performance.
it's interesting listening to the conservatives on this. are you That Gullible? when the consultants come through your employer and say, we've been told we need to lay off x amount of people, we will be focusing on performance, you really believe they find the bad ones?

Given that Elon Musk has repeatedly lied about what DOGE is finding
lmao according to who, the 'fact-checkers' like Reuters who are funded by USAID to push propaganda? do they actually see the data like the DOGE team does?
are these the same that pushed the russian collusion narrative, told us the virus came from a wet market, that Biden was sharp as a tack, and that the COVID jabs were 100% safe & effective?
2021 called, it wants its debooonkeds back
there is a list of stuff that he either got wrong or exaggerated or lied about. there are not jillions of 150 year old people on SS, for example.
WSJ did a piece where the supposed $55b savings is more like $2b. WSJ isn't a bleeding heart liberal rag.
setting aside they don't have the legal right to be doing what they are, or to be receiving a non-allocated budget to do it -- when did we pass a DOGE bill to pay these salaries -- when we have agencies watching spending, such as treasury or some congressional budget office, the idea is accurate figures and scrupulous descriptions. not spin.
but then the normal process here is some neutral government body keeps facts and figures, and we debate it in congress, and if one side is full of sh*t the other side gets time to point it out during debate, before the decisions get made. this is gut the agency then give an excuse. the excuse doesn't even have to hold water.
Before pensions are done away with or anything else that funds actual people, get rid of “ 14m for social cohesion in Mali”
Once waste, fraud and abuse is taken care of then cutting in to the income of the American worker can be considered
Probably no way to convince you, but do you know what that money went towards? I sure don't. Maybe it was wasteful, maybe it was well spent. There's conflict, the Islamic State is operating there, the Russians are there offering them military assistance, and the French are there as it's a former colony. We enjoy a dominant position as a country by maintaining relative peace and stability and in return directing a large share of the worlds resources towards the USA. Sometimes that requires a little social cohesion in Mali. And 14m is nothing in the federal budget. The farther we walk away from that role, the more countries will choose to deal with others besides the USA, and that will hurt us economically and strategically. I can't say whether it will help us culturally to stop helping other countries, but they say if you help someone else, you end up helping yourself even more.
If they can't come up with five bullet points, AI can do their "job".
I thought this was an illegal suggestion, but when the numbnutz nepotism hire in the law firm retained on a related case used ChatGPT in the brief and it hallucinated cases in citation, I started to wonder.
(okay, not on “a related case” and not demonstrably the result of a nepotism hire, but such hallucinations have definitely been produced on some cases that are a matter of court record.)
