Jonathan Gault has written an in-depth feature on what Shelby Houlihan's prospects are moving forward. He quotes 3 shoe execs as to whether there is a market for her, has quotes from her new agent Paul Doyle and also a quote from Jerry Schumacher as to whether or not he'd want to coach her.

Actually excited about this doc. I know why flotrack gets hate but I think it might be misplaced here. Whether you like Shelby or not, if she is actually returning to the track how could an outlet not cover that?
Just because she wasn't caught earlier, doesn't mean she wasn't doping when she ran her PBs.
This is why I'm for lifetime bans for doping. She doesn't deserve to be a professional athlete NO ONE DESERVES IT. Her comeback is THE WORST thing to happen in this sport. She is shameless. She's parading herself at WADA and saying the 4 year ban is meaningless. Horrible for everyone.
She is. You don't have to like it. Letsrun will interview her. Stride report will interview her. Runnersworld will interview her. She will bring a lot of people to the sport.
Don’t be such a party pooper on Houliday! Here, enjoy this video of Queen Shelby reliving her national title and American record-setting 1500m performances!
She is. You don't have to like it. Letsrun will interview her. Stride report will interview her. Runnersworld will interview her. She will bring a lot of people to the sport.
You guys are delusional. No one in the public knows ANYONE in T&F outside of Usain Bolt. Shelby's third cousin doesn't know who TF she is. Wow you did what wow that sounds great.
The calendar just turned to Monday, January 13th, 2025.
Shelby Houlihan is now a free woman.
Whether justice was served, or an injustice committed, the ankle shackles are now off.
We shall now see if Shelby was robbed of the best 4 years of her running life - or if the fires raging inside will still lead to one record performance after another.
Don't know when she'll lace 'em up, but first opportunity awaits this Friday the 17th @ UW Preview.
C U Next Tuesday!!
Not sure what the "Next Tuesday" comment means. She's starting her comeback on Tuesday, Jan 14th? Don't know.
However, Shelby is not entered in Friday's UW Preview per the entry list now posted on gohuskies.com.
Also, not sure why FloTrack is now promoting a story which will not air until February. Seems like a lot can happen before then. Maybe Shelby's debut is still a month off, with "Shelby Houlihan Rises" premiering just days prior.
In any case, Shelby's announcement of her first race back will be one of the biggest t&f stories of 2025. The build-up will be as exciting as the race itself.
Looking back for a moment:
When Shelby was with BTC a few years ago, she mentioned In an interview that Jerry once texted her, stating he believed she could break 14 in the 5000. As her former AR 14:23 was from an intersquad race back in 2000 -- and having clocked a 30:30 solo 10000 a year or so back -- sure hope to see Shelby make the 5000 her event this year. If age hasn't yet taken its toll, a US women may finally be competitive in this event on the world stage come Tokyo.
As a fan of US distance running, celebrating today as if it was a holiday.
She says she served consequences for actions she "never chose to make".
According to her, the one action that resulted in all these consequences was eating a burrito.
If she never chose to eat that burrito, why did she eat it?
The simple answer is someone else must have forced her to eat that burrito against her will!
Who forced her to eat that burrito, how did they force her to eat that burrito, and why did they force her to eat that burrito???
But maybe it wasn't just eating the meat in that burrito. It "absolutely" could have been "something else entirely" that forced her to eat that burrito.
It might have been more than one individual, potentially a conspiracy.
Who else was there when she was forced to eat that burrito? Who had the most to gain from this?
She is. You don't have to like it. Letsrun will interview her. Stride report will interview her. Runnersworld will interview her. She will bring a lot of people to the sport.
Shelby might get extra attention because of this, and might get some sponsorship just because of that attention and exposure (perhaps from those who believe 'there is no such thing as bad publicity').
But this will not catch much attention from the average person, and it will not bring a lot of people to the sport.
It's not going to be like the attention Sha'Carri got.
It's not like Shelby failed to make the Olympic team for smoking weed like Sha'Carri did. It's not like Shelby was a serious global medal threat in one of the glamor events. It's not like Shelby was banned for using a wildly popular recreational drug. It's not like many people use nandrolone, have ever hear of it, or care. It's not like Shelby said used the drug because her mother died, and burritos are not all that popular.
People can understand that a 4-year ban must have resulted from a serious violation, and it's not like she was framed or wrongfully accused.
Sha'Carri has more razz than Shelby, and her nails, tats, hair and life choices are far more interesting than Shelby's.
Hern name is Shelby Houlihan. Shelby Houlihan is hereby cleared to compete. This is the truth. Your statement is false. Her name is completely cleared.
Her reputation has gone. That's what comes from being caught doping.
