Usyk will have to deal with Jake Paul soon, what a fight that woould be.
I’m afraid it would not be much of a fight. Usyk is one of the best fighters in the world, pound for pound. Paul wouldn’t last very long, and the beating he would take might be dangerous.
Boomers go home devastated. Have we all learned a valuable lesson here? Everyone said Jake Paul might die. Fact is, life ain't a rocky movie. Doesnt matter how bad tyson used to be, 58 is 58. (For a guy who has lived like tyson, 58 is more like 68.) The aging process destroys us all. It's important to accept this. A shame that a roided-out dbag clown like Paul got to make money off a legend but, in the end, it's his own fault.

“Very long” would mean one round. Uysk is not a big puncher, so Paul would survive just fine. Early in his career, Tyson beat up tomato cans, and I don’t recall any serious injuries.
Paul is talking about fighting Canelo Alverez which would be just as stupid as the Tyson fight. Alverez is a great fighter, in, or near his prime, but Paul would have a 60 pound weight advantage.
In a better world, Paul would fight a decent professional heavyweight, get knocked out early, and never be heard from again.

Canelo is a tad past his prime and giving up 60 lbs.
This was a controlled exhibition to generate money because Tyson probably needed it.
(a) If Jake Paul didn't box at 70% and annihilated Mike Tyson, it would be sad for the legacy of boxing
(b) If Jake Paul lost, it would be sad for the current generation of boxing
The outcome of Paul winning on narrow decision looks a lot more sportsmanlike and positively balanced for all. In the words exchanged afterward, Tyson and Jake Paul's brother planted a sequel and another round of money.
I am alluding to this event was scripted and rehearsed to a certain point. Clauses agreed on: win on decision, few consecutive jabs and retreat, make sure it goes deep.
Jake Paul made respectful gestures to Mike Tyson as the remaining seconds ticked down. For Mike Tyson, it's good for him to get in shape and defy odds in age. Also, it is inspiring for spectators.
Estimated Earnings:
Jake Paul $40M
Mike Tyson $20M and an opportunity against Jake Paul's brother under the same terms
It is a win for all except Netflix, who compared to legit broadcasting companies, looked like a Flotrack dropped ball, amateur hour out there last night .
This is the problem with the plethora of old man action movies, people are genuinely delusional about what an old man’s body is capable of including some old guys, when they know dang well what they’re bodies are capable of. I’ve had my fair share of guys over 60 who still thought they could whoop me when I was in my prime, and those were guys twice as stiff as Tyson looked tonight. I was against this fight since the beginning. Thank god jake Paul deep inside is actually a decent guy and didn’t decide to tee off on Tyson where they would had to stop the fight. The only redeeming part of this is that Tyson got some retirement money.
In June 1984, when Tyson was 18, he was beaten in the U.S. Olympic trials by a guy named Henry Tillman. Much taller guy, long reach advantage. That really messed up Mike's plan: win the Olympics in L.A., chill for a couple months, then turn pro.
Mike fought his first pro fight in 1984. His first several opponents were total pushovers. During this '84-'85 period, Mike was a mess. I smoked pot with him a bunch of times and did coke a couple times. Mike was quite out of control; Cus D'Amato looked the other way; no Teddy Atlas around to rein him in. In retrospect, it's kinda surprising that Mike held it together at that crucial time. It could've easily gone in the other direction -- and the entire Tyson show never would've happened.

Were you a boxer as well? I’ve always thought the Tyson, while incredibly powerful and explosive, has actually been overrated by history. But he struggled against any boxer he couldn’t knock out relatively quickly. He was never a patient fighter. Any thoughts?

The 24 year old Tillman won a decision over the 18 year old Tyson.
Even at 58, with some serious training, he should have been able to go "young Tyson" for a couple of rounds, but he couldn't.
In fact, Tyson appeared to be punch drunk before he even entered the ring. When he first came into the arena, he stumbled. Then, I noticed he was wearing a right knee brace.
He didn't look pumped or ready, he looked like an old man who was up way past his bedtime. He showed no energy in the ring during introductions. He just stood like stone.
At the end of round 1 (maybe 2?) he was limping favoring his right knee as he walked to his corner. He never did his trademark bob and weave, although he did attack in round 1.
I don't know if Tyson was injured in training and just showing up for a payday or whether he didn't bother to seriously train and just showed up.

Mostly a win for the mega bookies like Draft Kings.

Tyson threw virtually no punches.
You know he could do better than that. Even at age 58

Older Odysseus turned a street corner into a human spectacle by beating up a bully who talked too much smack
