I suppose that African women begin to routinely run faster than American men then all American results will finish off-camera.
It’s pretty unusual for me to be least interested in the overall men’s race vs. the overall women and the respective “American races,” but I have a feeling I’m not alone.
The women will slow dramatically from the early pace, but I could see Kebede settling into a new rhythm and still running something historically fast, 2:11-2:13.
I have a good feeling about the top U.S. men.
Panning and Albertson are now pulling away from top woman

So Chepngetich hit 10k in 30:14. SO her 2nd 5k was 15:14. 15:14 by itself is 2:08:33 pace!!!!
At 10k, the lead women are head of the following American men: Shadrack Kipchirchir, Nathan Martin, Colin Mickow, Reed Fischer, Brian Shrader, Alex Maier, etc.
It was only 39 years ago that the women’s world record for 10000m was 30:59. But nothing to see here.

I'm so done with wheelchair races. A woman is running 2:07 pace and I'm watching f*cking hand cycles rolling down the street for most of the broadcast. Show me the start and the end that's it. It's not why I watch a major marathon.
They need to start it at least 30 minutes before so it's over relatively quickly. Starting it 10 minutes before is ridiculous, I don't think any of the other majors start it that close to the runners

love the bravado even if she blows up

This broadcast is always a disaster. Instead of showing the top US women, they are showing wheelchairs.
They idea that you'd try to broadcast 4 sporting events live is insane. Put the wheelchair on tape.
In an alternate universe differently abled people are complaining about the runners
45:32 (#2 performance all time)
Ruth Chep through 15k in 45:32
Kebede 7 seconds behind
Absolutely nuts
Imagine broadcasting the NFL playoffs simultaneously with amateur flag football games going on in the parking lot.

I give all the credit in the world to guys/gals with disabilities that are getting after it at a high level.
However, my no-expert view is that wheelchair racing is more like cycling than running.
20km WR is 1:01:25
It’s a possibility

Very promising overall for US men so far at 15k with 11 under 2:10 pace
You guys gotta come over to letswheelchair.com, the forums there are going wild about Marcel Hug not being a mile ahead at this point in the race
“Have you ever been chicked in a race?”
“Well I ran 2:12, I was very proud, but…”

I know it's not politically correct to say, but the number of people that actually care about the wheelchair races is infinitesimal compared to the number of people that care about the running races.
This is the first time I've really been into the wheelchair race. It's usually just watching Hug do a solo time trial. But the strategy and drafting is actually cool.

If you have a VPN, you can set it to South Korea and go to the Olympics channel/website for a live stream of the elite races. English commentary
Surfshark app broke my internet, but the browser extension worked perfectly. Feed is much better.

anyone setting a half marathon WR en route to a WR marathon should be exempt from testing by WADA/USADA
