what happened to Air Force men? they finished dead last and their top guy finished 99th. not I expected much from them but they almost always finish in the middle.
I would like to have seen Georgetown and Providence in this race. Georgetown should be top 3 in country in my (biased) opinion now they have their top 3 back.

I am trying to interpret results and at this point I have them more like 5th-8th. Strong top 3 but a bit of a gap to 5 and 6. AL, NM and WVA moving up.
The men’s race will be between Wolfe, Samuel and Blanks. It’s going to be a battle. Samuel looked smooth and was able to make a move to seperate the pack. Considering he’s a month behind the others for XC build/training Blanks looked great. I did hear that Nike made him wear Nike spikes today and would not let him wear NB. Seems strange as this NIL situation has not been enforced. Retribution against NB from Parker Valby? Wolfe will be in the mix too. Weather will play a major factor as well.
You have to add in undefeated Kipchoge of Texas Tech (raced x2, 22:01) and Lokira of Alabama (raced x1, 22:41).

And Musau of OSU (22:55 - 10 seconds in front of Samuel)
For all of the drastic cuts Sean Carlson made this year they are doing quite poorly in my opinion.
Lost to Wyoming today🫣To be fair, Carlson’s strength is recruiting. I think he’s signed Ella Hagen, the top senior girl in Colorado this fall. I honestly cannot remember the last time CU got the top runner in the state, boys or girls.
Kind of surprised how little discussion there’s been about NAU’s dynasty ending this year. First or second the last NINE years at nationals. They finished 5th today at a meet without the top two teams in the country. 3 of their top 4 are seniors and Sahlman’s a junior. This run is over, there is no clear path to return to glory, and no one seems to be talking about it.

Frankly there's not a whole lot of serious college XC discussion on this site generally. Lotta sh*tposting that reminds me of college football message boards circa 2002 and talk about doping at the professional level. Personally my day has kinda sucked because my hopes for the women were dashed by BYU. As a WYO and NAU fan I'd rather lose to about anyone else than BYU

nobody talking about it because nobody is surprised. they lost the core of their team last season and now they're in a rebuild. happens to every dynasty eventually. and because they don't stockpile their team with East Africans it's gonna be a lot harder to get back on top. it is what it is.

If Blanks or Wolfe doesn’t win it this year I don’t see another American winning nationals in the future.

yep. Especially since everyone saw the juggernaut that is OSU last year and knows who they are returning.
9 years of top 2 in a row is incredible, but every year is a new team and should be treated that way. The NC State women got 4 top 2 finishes in a row and are now rebuilding in a similar way to NAU, may be even farther back at NCAA's than NAU men. They have a lot of young athletes and the hope is they can develop some low stick all americans out of that group.

racist, you are a complete racist and it is obvious

Exactly this.
It’s not surprising to anyone. It’s going to require a few buildup years to get back in top position.

Straight talk. This was a gauntlet of a meet with the top 5 teams on the women’s side, and the reaction/discussion has been meh.
And let’s be honest, anytime BYU wins it’s a bit deflating for the boards. Seeing BYU win does not incite a lot of giddiness. Considering how disliked they are on these boards, though the men get most of the flak.
As we saw last year where BYU who looked like a contender and top 3 team blew up at nationals, anything can happen. NAU still has some pieces to add I would say it’s still anyone’s game but BYU showed today they could certainly win it all.
I understand it’s tough to lose to BYU from a rivalry perspective, but NAU and BYU on the women’s side don’t have much history being top ranked rivals, apart from last year when NAU saw a big jump. On the men’s side they’ve consistently had top teams for around a decade now I think. Is that it? Or something else that makes it such a bitter pill to swallow?
