When I was younger I used to follow professional sports more closely, but for me, Lance Armstrong's 2013 Oprah Winfrey interview ended the fascination. I would rather be biking or running slowly than watching freaks and cheats compete against each other. Compete against yourself, have fun, get better. Now, as I get older, it is just about trying to slow the inevitable decline.
Yes, I dream of beating Ed Whitlocks stellar 74-year-old marathon time of 2:54, or his perhaps even better 3:56 marathon at 85 while he was dying of cancer.
