Kerr is a better 1500m runner currently. Gold last year, silver this year.
Kerr has won a single outdoor track race this season and a single last season, and rather races road races instead of the Diamond League final. He's had the best placings in global finals the last two years, doesn't make him the best runner.

Kerr is awesome at timing that peak for sure! I don't deny that. I just think many people here are more impressed by the number of times Jakob gets out there and drives the pace. Jakob usually wins and has run the fastest times in the event year after year.
If Kerr had won Olympic Gold and not lost to Jakob since the Olympics, this would be an easier debate.
As it was, after the Olympics, Kerr went to altitude to train and rest; at the same tim, Jakob raced a lot, risked losing (did lose), fought back and set a world record!
Kerr came down from altitude, raced and lost to Jakob. People can't ignore that...

If they ran an unrabbitted 1500m this weekend would you honestly put your money on Jakob to finish ahead of Kerr?

Would it be just the two of them in one race? Then Kerr. Kerr is the better kicker and he'd sit on Jakob. It would be hard to shake Kerr with a fast pace and a slower pace favors Kerr.
But if they raced ten times and Nuguse and Hocker and the others were there, I would pick Jakob to be the guy with the fastest times and the most wins at the end of it.
That is the problem with this debate. We are sort of talking about two different things.

He’s it does. Rabbitted trials aren’t races.
No, there are more factors which determines who's the best than how high you place in one race per season. There wouldn't be any discussion if he had won the Olympic gold, but he didn't.
Hocker's performance was right out of left-field - a bit like Centro in 2016. I doubt that he will ever back it up - unless he juices like he probably did in Paris.
Centro backed up his performance many times.
Hocker is young
What did Centro win globally after Rio and what records did he set?
Ingebrigtsen is the most successful distance runner in the last decade (maybe some will argue for Cheptegei). He is a two time Olympic a two time World champion and a 18(?) times European champion. He has won more Diamond leagues than any other runner in this period. He has set fantastic World records over 2000m, 3000m, 2 Miles and is the fastest over 1500m and the Mile in this period. To describe him as a "loser" because he also has lost several races is pure insanity which only can be done while driven by pure hate.
I am not a fan of him, Dumb. Did you get this?
I get that you're seething at confronting facts about your favourite loser.
You haven't understood the discussion. He isn't the best. He is amongst the best - none clearly dominate but all can win and on the big occasions now it's always the next guy.
With you there is no discussion, since you ignore any arguments.
He is the best. He is the fastest in the last three years, he has by far the most fast times, he has a positive win/loss record against all his competitors. He is best at the Global champs and he is a three time European champion.
His record is far from perfect (like Coe, Cram, Ovett for example) but he clearly is the best over the last years. It's not debatable. Morceli and El Guerrouj (both also not perfect records) where much more dominant in their prime, but currently Ingebrigtsen is the best.
In the past when a runner was described as "the one to beat" it was usually referring to the likely winner. In Jakob's case the expression has become literally true.
Have to feel a little for Jakob, as he'll never likely dominate the 1500m ever again.
There are too many quality chasers now behind him running great times. If Kerr's having an off-day, Nuguse is there to kick past him them all. If Nuguse isn't, then Hocker will be.

Wrong. When you lose an argument you resort to insults. You are intellectually and emotionally weak.

I'm not confronting any facts, he is not my favorite at all (more the opposite), to call the by far most successful runner who has won more than all the others a "loser" just describes which insane person you are.

I have given many arguments, for example in the post you have replied here. Many more arguments in other posts. You just ignore them because you have no arguments against them and you never would agree that you are wrong.
Coe has lost 9 1500m/Mile races between 1983 and 1986. And this while racing very sparingly internationally - completely different to Ingebrigtsen who races against top competition many times in every season. Also all the others you regularly quote have lost many races (Elliott in his very short career not in the 1500m/Mile).

You don't need to feel for him since the 1500 is his worst event and he has an Olympic gold, two Worlds silvers and a 3:26 PB at age 23. Nobody else in history has performed better in the event by the time they were 23
The 1500 is just a very volatile event, and it's very hard to consistently win the big championships even if you're the best. Only Coe has won the Olympic gold more than once.
Jakob most likely won't become the best 1500 runner ever, but he's already done enough in his worst event to become the best runner of all time if he has more success in his better events.
It would be fun to see Jakob run a championship 1500 from time to time with the savvy of other top pros, fighting for a good spot on the rail in 2nd or 3rd or 4th until he's really ready to kick. I think he might surprise himself with his ability to gap the field over the last 300-500 meters, or possibly even win on the final straight if the field starts to go before that and he sits on the shoulder of the leader.
What a stupid comment - on pure Dumb level. Wightman has nothing achieved to be in the conversation.
Except for being yet another runner superior to Ingebrigtsen in a global 1500 championship, which Ingebrigtsen has never won.
In their other 6 matches since 2019 Ingebrigtsen has beaten Wightman, including at the Olympics and the World champs.
Laughable just to point again and again what he has not won, and ignoring everything he has won and what others havn't won. He is clearly the most successful in the 1500m in this decade. Looking at all distances, he is so far ahead (apart from Cheptegei) that it's not worth discussing.

What he has done so far definitely is a good basis to become the best distance runner in history. For me, he has to surpass Gebrselassie and Bekele, which surely is a hard task. But with his 1500m success it's definitely possible. An Olympic title in a third event (steeple/10000m) and world records in two Olympic events (5000m, 10000m, steeple - I don't think he will get the 1500m WR) would be enough for me (also the longevity of the two Ethiopians is astonishing).

Longevity is going to be the big one for me, I value it a lot. I don't doubt he's going to subscribe to titles in the 5000m and 10000m, but will he be able to compete for as long as Farah, or Bekele? I think it's likely he will because the double threshold training leads to less wear and tear which is why he can race as often as he does.

I think it's mainly a point of motivation. He is a "professional" runner since his childhood. I think there is a big chance that he quits running after 2028 - but for sure I can be completely wrong about that.
Yes, longevity is big factor for Gebrselassie and Bekele (and also Kipchoge - not so much for Farah I would say). It's definitely not easy to surpass them!
