We've merged three threads on Jakob's post-race comments into 1. One other thread was entitled, "Jakob: "Competing with a cold: probably not the best medicine. 🤔 Not showing up: not an option, unless half dead." The third thread was titled, "Jakob criticizes Hocker’s cross training- “that’s very strange”.
...Runners should care about making the sport enjoyable for the fans because it's the fans that makes sure they get paid. The only people who likes Kerr are people like you who hates Jakob and wants to see him lose, which is hardly sustainable for the future.
Yes, athletes should race as much as possible. Some of them simply aren't good enough to race a lot and be able to sustain their performances...
I can't understand fans hating the biggest racing star of present. And between his rivals I can't see any hate with the exception of Josh (who I think is actually jealous). Quite the opposite, respect and correct relationship is visible from everyone, such as McSwain, Cheruiyot, Kipsang, all Kenyans in fact, Hoare, Mechaal, Gourley, Arese, Lewandowski, and even Nordås, not to mention the whole 5000m field.
If you watch the clip, Jakob makes this exact point. OP quoted him out of context trying to create controversy where it doesn’t exist. Jakob didn’t attack/criticize Hocker at all.
Yeah, it was a very well reasoned opinion by Jakob. Basically he's saying if you're injured, then cross train but nobody is going to be a fast runner because they cycle or swim.
Jacob reminds me of that guy who is very angry about something that is his fault but is too arrogant to admit it so he goes on nonsense rants about trivial things
Kerr got the best pacing imaginable in the Olympic finals, didn't win and is still over a second away from Jakob's PR.
Case closed
And Jakob came 4th. So how does that make him better? And he lost to him at the Worlds and the Prefontaine.
You need to win the race. Not just produce fast times in DL races with lights. Racing is a skill. Some athletes are more skilled at it than others.
The 3:26 PR makes him better than Kerr's 3:27 PR.
Neither won the Paris Olympics, so neither gets credit there. Kerr beat Jakob narrowly at Pre, the season opener, but then Jakob crushed Kerr at Zurich, so that's a washout.
The argument that Kerr is now end-of-season tired is pretty comparable to the argument that Jakob was coming off an injury at Pre. Another washout.
Jakob has an Olympic gold and Josh has a WC gold. I give an edge to Olympic hardware, but that's just me.
Beyond all if this, let's be honest. Jakob’s body of work is much superior

People will hate someone who's the best and wins the most no matter if they've done anything wrong or not, they'll look for every little slant they can find to latch onto. The people who hate Jakob for being "arrogant" and "cocky" loves Kerr who's much, much more cocky arrogant than Jakob.

Josh has won a grand total of 3 gold medals in his career, one being European junior champs and one being indoors, while Jakob has won 28 gold medals, yet somehow Kerr is the better championship racer.

There's no logic behind it, just jealousy.
That must be the answer. - Jealousy. Success is unforgiving.
Current form also has Keely out with an injury. You gonna argue others are better or take away her Olympic medal? I’m talking about currently world championships not end of season DL races after most have timed their peak correctly for the games that actually matter.

Josh is a great runner, I love watching him like any other good runner, every race is better if there are more runners who can influence the result. Jakob may not win every race, but he affects the result. Without him every race would be different. Without him, none of his rivals would be at this level. Without Jakob, middle distance running would not be what it is today. It's incomprehensible how some "fans" can't see this.

Josh Kerr is "ready to go" as the Scot resumes his rivalry with in-form Jakob Ingebrigtsen and seeks revenge over Olympic 1500m gold medallist Cole Hocker in Thursday's Diamond League meeting in Switzerland.
They raced, Kerr stunk up the place because he's not good enough to run fast over the entire season. Being the best means performing around the year, every year, not showing up once.

This is great. You just need to remember the performance levels before Jakob, the chicken race slow 3 laps before the 150m sprint, to understand how he’s changed the game. It would have taken a lot longer to see 3 guys run 3.27 in an Olympic final if Jakob hadn’t made them up their game.
I agree Ingebrigtsen has added to the level in the 1500. And, it’s not just in pacing, conditioning, and tactics, it even goes down to the speed suit. Hocker and Kerr were not speed suit guys to begin with. It looks as if they’re following a lead…

The jealousy is all yours - Ingebrigtsen-lover.

And their game was better than his.
Yes, and Hocker’s was better than Duck Duck Kerr’s, in Paris AND in Zurich. Case closed, Hocker is Kerr’s master. Kerr is Hockers b*%(h.

Taking down komen’s record tells me the first sub 12’30 is not far away.
