WOW! blue 7 mentioned "Tokyo Story" by Ozu. He's right. It is a great, great movie.
I'll mention another great black and white foreign flick...."Wild Strawberries."
Tokyo Story is great. I preferred Kurosawa overall, and listed Seven Samurai as the greatest early in this thread, but I couldn't argue against Tokyo Story being called the greatest
Wild Strawberries I'm not a huge fan of. My least favorite Bergman.
Great movie. I always wonder if this movie sort of "ended" westerns of the era in a way. Of the Leone filmography, I find myself thinking often about Once Upon A Time in America, which I actually find more interesting that the Godfather.

Only 100!?
Well here are my favorite 102, but cant list more than 1 from each year:
I think I've seen all but 10-11 of your choices; it's a great list!
My wife and I have had a monthly movie night (with discussion afterwards) during the school year and weekly during the summer for the past 25 years. We passed 3000 movies on our life list this past year. It's been a fun hobby for the two of us ... and we've loved sharing films with the students who have passed through.
Fair enough. But do you mean the earlier or later Wittgenstein? Also, the OP was not asking the question in the philosophical sense of "What is x?" Trying to figure out what "greatest" means (even for a movie) cannot be answered decisively. Moreover, one would then have to wonder about the appropriateness of "all time" and "discus" (lol). Perhaps the question put by the OP is as it is usually used in ordinary language to ask people what movie(s) they personally consider their own favorite. Or perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps what cannot be said with clarity should be passed over in silence.

3000! I'm around 2,100 I think. From your list I've enjoyed almost all that I've seen - all 4/5 or 5/5 in terms of my own enjoyment except for a few. 35 on your list I haven't seen (including a few of the more "popular" ones), but about half of those have been on my watchlist for quite some time - just haven't found the time or availability.
